I made them for my family and they love it. I even made some with out the coconut for the ones that did not like coconut. I put caramel on top it was very good and for the butterscotch morsels I made it with peanut butter morsels. You will love it.

I love this recipe; it is one of my favorites, I make it exactly as is and it never fails to please. Last time I made it I noticed a recipe for butterscotch-oatmeal cookies on the back of the butterscotch morsel package. I made the recipe and substituted some left over chocolate chips and coconut for some of the butterscotch morsels. The cookies came out great-kind of like "five layer bar meets oatmeal cookie"!

These bars are truly magic. When you prepare it, you might think, "Is this going to taste any good?" However, once you remove them pan from the oven and cool it...you will fall in love it! NOTE: 30 minutes is a little too much baking time. Try 25 minutes. Mine are a bit dry.

This has got to be the easiest recipe for any type of party. I made some changes though, instead of butterscotch chips I used peanut butter chips. Also I use walnut for the pecans & milk chocolate chips. Everyone will think you are a big shot with this recipe!!!

Goodness folks! Poor Paula. She knows its an old recipe. But even old recipes need to be reintroduced to new generations!

This dish didn't last one day in my house before it was all gone. I used peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, almond slivers, and coconut with caramel poured on top. The bottom stuck to the pan even though the pan was non-stick. I'll spray some cooking spray or butter the bottom of the pan next time. These bars tasted so good that I didn't mind the mess.

These 5-layer bars are so delicious and nothing could be quicker or easier. I substituted peanut butter chips for the butterscotch on the second batch I made.
