Quick and easy to make and everyone loves them. The ingredients are also easy to interchange if you prefer peanut butter chips or a different kind of nut. You'll get asked to make them all the time.

This is a great idea to do up gift jars with an old favorite recipe that has been updated by adding butterscotch morsels. At least I have not used them before. I have made up some to give as Easter gifts. And the bars are soooo goood!

I've read some of the review for this recipe and I must agree that this is a recipe found on the can of sweetened evaporated milk and also an Emeril's recipe for Hello Dollys. However, it is my guess (although I missed most of her prep for this recipe that Paula was suggesting doing a gift pkg prep to give to folks with a sample of the finished product.
It seems like a "sweet" gift for someone with the ingredients for the most part in a decorative jar or clear bowl.

My congrats, Paula. You are wonderful!!

I have not made these bar cookies in ages. I found the recipe on the side of a margarine box back in the 1960s and made them for my parents. I have 3 grown sons now, and they love them too! Thanks Paula for reminding us that some of those old recipes are still worth pulling out!

I just made these about two weeks ago. The exact recipe from an Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk Can. They are called Magic Bars... This is crazy.. I certainly hope you do not take credit for this recipe.

This OLD recipe, aside from the addition of butterscotch chips, is right from the label on Borden Sweetened Condensed Milk. Please tell me you are not taking credit for this recipe that has been around forever!

These bars were so easy to put together and were delicious. I will make them a tradition.
