Confusion on the cooking time however--do you cook the meat an additional 1 hr. after the 3 hours in the closed oven or turn the oven back on after 2 hours in oven? I did not know where else to ask this important question.

I have never rated a recipe before, but do look over the ratings by others. This recipe was so DELICIOUS and SIMPLE that I just to had to rave about it. This rib roast recipe has been the main focal point of our Christmas dinner over the past 3 years and will continue. It is EXCELLENT!! I would not change a thing and I love rare meat and it always turns out perfect.

I have made this three Christmas dinners in a row and my family loves it. Roast is crunchy on the outside and very juicy in the inside. I love this cooking strategy. This dish will always be on my table during the holiday - wonderful!

My sister and I made this for Christmas dinner last year. The entire family voted this roast our new Christmas dinner tradition.

I have a couple of questions. Does it matter the size of the Standing Rib Roast. Do you still just bake for 1 hour, leave in oven for 3 hours and then reheat? Say even if it would be 10 lbs.? And I have another question for anyone. My butcher makes a rolled/tied Prime Rib Roast (no bones with their own seasoning in the roll. Do you think the time would be the same? Has anyone tried a rolled and tied. Thanks for your help.

This recipe was super, super easy. But also the method of cooking and the cut of meat had me eating almost a pound by myself...I couldn't stop becasue it was so good. The outside was flavorful because of the spices and the inside was absolutly succulent and perfectly cooked.

Easy and perfect. I have used others from this site and this is the easiest.
On Paulas' humor some people should get their minds out of the gutter. She's a funny "Southern Lady" !

Sooo easy to make. I made it for X-mas and it was a total hit. Just make sure you don't open the oven!! Also, for a more cooked flavor, let it sit for another 1/2 hour or so.
