Easy and sooo good! As good as - if not better - than any eaten in southern food restaurants that feature fried green tomatoes. No time to make the relish but this is my 3rd time to use this recipe and it is awesome!

I love fried green tomatoes and the vidalia onion relish with this recipe is delicious. I followed the recipe exactly (no adjustments and it came out perfectly. I can't wait to make this again!

I made the recipe tonight and it was delicious. I used aunt jemima cornmeal mix with self rising flour included because I did not have any self rising flour. I added a teaspoon garlic powder to the cornmeal.Instead of deep frying I cooked them in a skillet with an inch of vegetable oil, worked just fine. I followed the salting routine but had to shake the slices to get rid of the water in the colander.
As to the relish: I made half the recipe and cut the vinegar in half again. I used regular cheap vinegar and since I love chives I upped the amount. After it sat a while it was delicious and the combination of the tomatoes and the onion relish is to die for. I am glad I finally don't have to waste all those unripened tomatoes. I am going to fry them up and freeze them for the winter, like I do with my eggplants!

I usually change recipes to suit my tastes, but I followed this one exactly and the tomatos came out perfect! Delicious!

In fairness, the review is for the tomatoes only, but have mercy! So, that's what all the fuss is about! Sad to say, but this southern ding-a-ling has never had a fried green tomato until tonight and I could kick my ample behind! Why have the relish? These were delicious by themselves and I will be making up for lost time, I can guaran-dang-tee you!

Very good and tasty. I didn't think my husband and daughter would care for the onion relish but they absolutely loved it, and wanted it added to my recipe collection of favorites.

These are sheer perfection!!! My family requests these over and over. They are perfect for a weeknight, or family gathering. Truly a comfort food in our house. Though I have never made the relish, if it is half as good as how the tomatoes come out, then well worth it I'm sure. We are all content with good ol' ranch dressing to top our tommy toes. Yumm yumm! Thanks Paula, for showing me what my southern born mother never did! :

WOW, this is IT! When I was a little girl I remember eating some fried green tomatoes and they were sooo good! After the Movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" came out, it brought back memories and I was on the hunt for a decent (not perfect recipe. Only to be disappointed every time! I knew I remembered them being something that I was not getting... until now! I never even got to the onion relish. I felt like such a pig, going back for more and more! This is everything I remember fried Green Tomatoes to be... PERFECT Paula!
