This is a great recipe for light and crispy onion rings -- when you don't want the mess, fuss or thick crust of an onion ring pre-soaked or dripping with batter. This technique makes them so much easier and quicker to prepare. Delicious. I use a colander to shake the excess flour off the onion rings before adding them to the hot oil.

These onion rings were fantastic! The sauce is a must. The only thing I did different was I soaked the onions in buttermilk and then dredged them in the 2 cups of flour with the teaspoon of seasoned salt, then fried them. They were as good as any you would have in a restaurant, in fact they were better. My family loved them!

I soaked my onion rings in milk as well, and used House of Autry hot seafood breader, but still a lot of the coating fell off in the oil. They were good, but I think a batter might be a better way to go.

I loved the Chili Sauce! I will be using this sauce on more than just onion rings. I didn't make the onion rings on this recipe; used onion rings made with Panko breading and oven baked, then made the sauce for something different. It was tasty!

Great recipe. Turned out to be very yummy. It wasn't soggy at all. I only made half the sauce recipe, thinking we wouldn't eat a full one. Boy, did I make a mistake, we were licking the bowl. I served the onion rings and sauce on top of a pork butt we had smoked the same day. You will not be disappointed with the onion rings. I did soak my onions in milk for one hours to mellow them out and I drained them be adding them to the flour. The onion rings had just the right amount of coating without being to heavy. Thanks Paula.

I made this recipe using shallots instead of onions because I prefer the milder flavor. I sliced them about 1/8" thick, but didn't seperate the rings. I ended up with little fried onion disks. Delicious and easy to dip. Fun appetizer!

This was defintatly the best onion ring recipie ever. They came out so much better then I expected they would. They are defintatly a recepie i would reccomend for anyone who loves onion ring. I screwed up with the sauce though. I used hot sauce instead of chili sauce. BE CAREFULL THEY ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS!!!!!!!!!!! But other wise they were delicious!

    Thanks Paula!

These are the easiest and best onion rings I've ever had. I soak the onions in water until I'm ready to batter them. Then I pat dry and use a food strainer and extra bowl to "sift" the extra flour off instead of the zip bag method. I've never had a greasy batch. Even my picky 6 yr old loves them!
