The Best Way to fix venison!I have tried everything but have never had anything like this. I plan on using this recipe for beef later.

Olive oil was too greasy because I couldn't get it up to 350 without a large amount of smoke. The flavor was there but the grease was too heavy. Next time I'll try canola oil or something with a higher flash point.

I inherited 2 pounds of venison backstrap cube steaks but since I have never cooked venison before I was stumped as to what to do with it. I am so glad I found this recipe - super easy to cook up & my husband and I both loved it. I overlooked mixing the mustard into the buttermilk prior to soaking the meat, but it was still fine. The Feta dipping sauce is an instant new classic in our house - this will be excellent on so many dishes.

I was VERY impressed with this dish! I do not like venison at all, but my husband and 4 sons went hunting and brought home 5 deer. So I've been trying every recipe I can find...and I couldn't find anything that I'd make twice....til now!
This dish had just the right amount of heat to make it pop out, and then with the sharp feta/sour cream contrast....so good!!! Whole family loved it...kids included. Even the 2 yo kept asking for more. Great job, Paula!

i ve been looking for different things to place into my wraps to hold everything together and i love feta and i happen to stumble upon this recipe and i loved it in my wraps! i used a wheat wrap and placed the feta cream on it minus the dill i added chives instead since i had it on hand. I place sliced tomatoes, romaine lettuce, more chives, grilled zucchini and 2 pieces of pepper turkey meat and it was AMAZING!

This recipe, while basic, is probably one of the best ways to serve venison, which can have a strong, game taste that some don't prefer. Served with the sauce breaks even more of the game taste. I recommend trying this, but I don't recommend sniffing the flour mixture too close - my three year old did and had to rush to the bath! The sauce would be great as a dip to many other meats or vegetables, and the venison....I can't stop sneaking pieces as I am frying it in Grandma's old cast iron skillet.
