Ingredients

  • 3 ounces best-quality chocolate (or a variety of your favorites)
  • 2 teaspoons store bought hot chocolate mix (recommended: Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate Mix)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 cups ice
  • Whipped cream, for garnish
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Directions

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt in a small heavy saucepan or in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar, stirring constantly until blended.

Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk, stirring until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender, place the remaining 1 cup of milk, the chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cram and chocolate shavings.

    To Serendipity.:...BITE ME!!

Rated: 1 stars out of 5
This IS the recipie from Serendipity!! They even make this Kicked up with a "special blend" of VERY expensive cocoa and... chocolate, serve it with a solid GOLD spoon encrusted with tiny diamonds(which you get to keep)and sprinkle the whipped cream with edible gold dust and have the nerve to charge $20,000 for it !!The "Normal" versoin of this isn't all that inexpensive, either. It is NOT at all THAT great. This recipie(and the $20,000 one )taste amost identical, which compared to MY version is nothing but a watered down CHEAP substitute. And I DO mean watered down!!! If you readers/cooks/ chocoholics really want something to rave about ,try looking up Paula's Work-a-holic's hot chocolate(Actually she borrowed this one from another New York City chocolatiernamed Max Brenner).Cook his recipie up and let it cool in the fridge.Put this into a blender 2/3rds full of ice and blend until it is like a "daquiri". It;s not quite as good as My version, but it is pretty close... I usually LOVE most of Paula's recipies but This one is WAY beneath her standards And Sorry Paula, but i must agree with some of the other comments about sticking your tongue into the chocolate fountain. That was awful!! Something you might expect from drunken "Trailor Trash", maybe some one high on Crack,or a small child that doesn't know any better. A tleast the child HAS an excuse.Read more

    Perfect

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This is the perfect desert for even a cold winter night. Eventhough it was delicious, i only put in 1 1/2 cups of ice. I... noticed that if you make it and let it sit in a freezer for 5 min. the flavors develop more, hence, it tastes better. Read more
