Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, plus the juice 1 lemon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 apple, cored and diced
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 avocado, peeled and sliced
  • 1 (11-ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions

For the dressing, combine the honey, orange juice, oil, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, poppy seeds, salt, and mustard in a jar with a tight lid; cover and shake well. Toss the apple, banana, and avocado with juice from 1 lemon to prevent the fruit from turning brown. Combine the fruit, raisins, and nuts in a glass bowl. Add the dressing and stir gently. Serve on red leaf lettuce.

    My New Favorite Fruit Salad

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I needed a quick side dish with ingredients on hand, so my recipe varied from this one a little, but it was FABULOUS, and my... family gushed over it. I didn't have to change the dressing recipe and loved it as is, but I didn't have avocado, raisins, or oranges. I added diced dried apricots and extra apple instead. I also didn't have poppy seeds but will get them for next time. As I made it, it was definitely a hit.Read more

    Yum!

I just made this recipe tonight. I changed it quite a bit but it turned out so well. I added pears, mangos, and grapes in... addition to the fruit that's listed in the recipe. I also accidentally used seasame seads instead of poppy seeds. I ran out of honey and used about half grade b maple syrup instead of honey. I also added in a bunch of fresh mozzeralla cheese and extra walnuts. It turned out so delecious!Read more

My wife and I entertained some friends for lunch. This fruit salad was a huge hit. I added some strawberries for added... color and taste. Do not leave out any of the ingredients, including the poppy seeds. I'm not to crazy about poppy seeds but everyone loved them. (go figure) All of my friends have asked me for this recipe which is always a compliment. Try it, you'll love it! Later, Henry Read more

    What a Versatile Recipe!!

I also used olive oil instead of canola oil, turned out great! Also instead of mustard I only had Dijon Mustard and omitted... the poppy seeds since I thought having mustard seeds & poppy seeds was a bit too much "seeds". And instead of the avocado I sliced up some mangoes! I doubled the recipe and took it to work and itwas gone in a FLASH! (It is alittle pricey at the beginning if you have to buy everything, but after the initial purchase the honey, poppy seeds, mustard, raisins and walnuts will last many more times! And believe me, I could eat this everyday!)Read more
