I made a double batch - although side by side instead of in one bowl - and followed this recipe to the letter, including allowing wrapping the two resulting dough balls in their own plastic and chilling for an hour. They came out beautifully.

I cut one out (in the pan before baking into the pieces for a house and used a small gingerbread man and Christmas tree cookie cutter on the other. I rolled them a little thicker, about 1/4" and baked them in my convection oven at 330 for 11 minutes.

Again, perfect. They look wonderful, taste excellent held up to handling during decorating and house building and the kids had a blast making the dough, rolling it out, and decorating.

This was so easy to make. I even made a double batch and let the kids in on cutting and icing them. Baking them gave that perfect "It's Christmas time" aroma. There was nothing to complain about with these cookies...easy, great baking aroma and perfect gingerbread memories flavor.

I absolutely love this recipe. My father looks forward to gingerbread cookies all year and that is my special holiday treat for him. This recipe is easy and tastes just like the cookies I grew up with. Paula did it again!!!!!

Great recipe Paula!!!! Thank you! You are the best!
When making the dough and mixing dry and wet parts together the mixture does look dry but all you have to do is knead it on the counter for couple minutes and it will stick together nicely.

Just tried these tonight. (Some are still cooling on the racks. I'm not impressed with this cookie. Doesn't have a great gingerbread taste, rather bland. I followed the recipe to the letter and the dough was a little dry, as was the cookie. I'm going to keep search for a better recipe.

The cookies are great, I believe it is the recipe. Usually when I make gingerbread it is kind of hard. But this recipe was great. This is the first time I have tried this one but it will not be the last. Love your fried chicken too Paula.

I love it! I can't stand gingerbread cookies that are too gingery. That being said, if you love a strong ginger flavor, this may not be the recipe for you, or just increase the amount. Has come out great every time I make it.

Every time I make these people LOVE them. I send them to my family all over the U.S. and they beg me for the recipe. Perfect flavor, GREAT texture, and super east to make. The dough is easy to work with... and even the 're-worked' dough makes GREAT cookies. Thanks, Paula!

Overall, this was a great recipe. This was my first time making gingerbread cookies. They tasted great and looked super cute when the recipe was all completed. I followed the ingredients on the recipe for the first batch I did and I found that the cookie was slightly dry, so I cut back on the flour and the cooking time on the second batch I did. The second batch was a lot better, more moist and chewier.

The recipe for the confectioners sugar was a little too difficult to work with. I had to add slightly more confectioners sugar to the recipe to creat a thicker consistency.

I made several batches of the dough and did keep in in the refrigerator overnight. This was fine, but you just have to leave the dough out in room temperature for a few minutes so the dough softens up.

A great recipe to do with kids. They enjoy decorating them. They really great when displayed on a platter.
