This is by far the worst recipe for gingerbread EVER!
The Gingerbread 101 is the best one.
    DO NOT USE THIS RECIPE...

I never made gingerbread so I thought I'd try Paula's... It was OK. Good flavor and smell, but the dough was hard to work with initially. It was very crumbly, but after gathering it into a ball in chilling for an hour or so, it was very easy to work with.

This was also my first try at gingerbread cookies and, I love Paula, but this recipe was awful. Too much flour and the icing was drippy.

I love the flavor, but that is too much flour, the cookies were not soft. I only baked 7 minutes. I added a teaspoon of ground ginger to the icing recipe, that was wonderful.

Those cookies were really good but only after I took out the one extra cup of flour.
What I really like about this recipe is its mild flavor. It is not overpowering like some gingerbread cookies, but just strong enough to enjoy this seasonal treat.
    Thanks Paula

This was my first try ever at making gingerbread men and it came out perfect. Don't adjust the amount of flour. I followed the directions exactly and my gingerbread men were delicious!

Sorry Paula, I love you, but these cookies were not sweet enough and contained too much flour. They turned out moist and chewy, but not sweet enough for me, I had to toss them. The frosting wasn't that great either, it needs butter.

Very easy to make. My boys helped me and they were thrilled. I think I'll add a half cup of granulated sugar next time b/c they weren't sweet enough for us.
