This was amazing!! Took it to a family reunion and they all "ooh" and "ahh" about it...but it didn't take much after I told them it was a Paula Deen recipe!! "How many sticks of butter are in this?!" I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe! I don't like baking (the Intermediate term is very misleading...super easy to make! I don't even like sweets, but this converted me!! Thank you Paula!! After a few of church friends tried this, they said this will get the highest bid at our next church dessert auction!!

The basic recipe for this has bin around for many years by just changing up the flavor of the cake mix and flavors in the topping ingredients you can get a wide range of ooey gooey cakes or bars.

Awesome. I used a devils food cake mix instead of yellow and I used an entire 10 oz bag of toffee bits-1 cup in the cream cheese batter and the remainder on top before baking.

My daughter and I made this for Easter and we loved it. So easy to make. We loved the gooey texture and the sweetness. Will definitely make this again! We used the Toffee Bits that you should easily find in the stores baking aisle.

Yum. Delicious..
And I was reading some of the comments.. Some people's cake turned out gooey and undone in the center and burnt on the bottom at the same time. It occurred to me while I was preparing, that it's possible they prepared the cake batter according to the box and then added another egg and the butter as per Paula's recipe. This is likely the culprit, as it would make sense that it would burn being too wet and being in for too long and undone in the middle due to too much moisture.
Hope this solves the caper.
I used Toblerone in my cake instead, because I couldn't find toffee bits. Sooooo good.

My husband and I watched this recipe being made together on T.V. and later he surprised me by making it for me. So I haven't actually made it myself but I can tell you this, it is the best thing I have ever tasted! If you have a sweet tooth you will LOVE this! Fantastic.

I made this for Christmas and it was FANTASTIC! Everyone loved it and couldn't get enough!! It is definitely rich and decadent, so I cut them into small little bites. There was not a crumb left on the platter when my families got through with them! Delicious!
