    Wonderful Super Moist Cake!!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I have made this cake several times. Everyone loves it. The last time I made it I made it with apple cider instead of orange juice and it was really good too. The cake is moist and we all love complex cakes in my house so it was bound to be a hit.

    Good Holiday Cake

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
The cake was absolutely delicious. Take note, that as you are mixing the ingredients, the batter will be thick, but don't worry, the cake will turn out fine and be moist. Yum!!!!

I have also been making this for 3 years. I make it all the time. It is great for breakfast in the mornings with coffee. My kids even love it! It is the best tasting dessert you have ever put in your mouth. Looks beautiful on a cake stand!

    Delicious

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I have been making this cake for the past 3 years for a bake sale. It's always the first to go and this year I had to bake two cakes. I've made this in a 9 X 13 pan but I think it works much better in a bundt pan and it's prettier in a bundt pan. I've uses Jonathan apples and Granny Smith. This is by far, my favorite cake.

    Moist, Delicious, Scrumptious!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I have to admit that I did not read the reviews prior to baking this delicious cake....assured that if it was Paula Deen's recipe it would be great, and sure enough it was! I followed the recipe to a T! Did not cut down on sugar, or substitute anything. Sure, it had a lot of sugar, but it was well worth it, plus I'm not the diet type of girl. I will gladly get up 6am and hit the gym for an hour and a half every morning, but skimp of food, or deprive myself of delicious Paula Deen recipes no chance. So thank you, Paula Deen for giving me the opportunity to make another of your delicious recipes, and once again get raving reviews from my family! Not much left, but you bet I will have a piece for breakfast before the gym! :) Francesca

Very Good but a little too sweet

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I made this in a bundt pan. It took 1 hr 25 minutes to bake. I did find that the glaze actually overflowed out of the pan so it took me a while to get it all to absorb. Also, as someone else stated the glaze does foam a lot so next time I will use a larger sauce pan. I didn't have buttermilk so I made sour milk (1/2 Tbs white vinegar with the 1/2 c. of milk) This is very moist and tasty, however, it was almost too sweet. Next time I will either use half of the glaze or eliminate it. I also had a little trouble getting the cake out. But I used pam instead of butter to grease the bundt pan so that might have caused the sticking. Overall, this is a keeper and I will for sure make it again.

    Very good but not mind-blowing

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I think my expectations were a little high based on all the reviews. The cake was very good (my DH loved it, my mother-in-law wanted the recipe, and my father-in-law took two and a half slices within 10 minutes upon seeing the cake!) but I thought it was missing something (granted, I cut back a little on the sugar and oil based on reviews). It also was a little overcooked on the top despite cooking it for 90 mins like the recipe called. Next time, I think I'll add a little more apples and cinnamon and/or allspice, and check the cake after 75 or 80 mins. But it's definitely a good cake with coffee or tea and definitely one I'll make again!

A good cake to have with coffee

Rated: 4 stars out of 5
I needed something to do with the apples we picked so I chose this recipe. This cake is excellent to have with coffee. As other reviewers mentioned it does keep very well and actually does get better with some time. I did go back for 2nds and 3rds and I would make this again for an older crowd as it's not too sweet. As an after dinner cake it's average. Overall, I thought this cake was overrated and was expecting something out of this world. Maybe my expectations were too high...

    moist and yummy

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made a few changes to make it less caloric. I used canola oil, half Splenda for the sugar, half whole wheat flour. I also added a capful of rum to the sauce. I also made it in loaf pans as I didn't have a tube. It's over a week old and still moist and delicious. Without my personal tweaks this cake is probably better. Give it a try but have plenty of tasters around, it makes a lot.

a delicious cake to serve company

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
We absolutely love this cake. It stays very moist and keeps well several days if you are having company. I made only half of the sauce amount and liked it that way.

    BEST CAKE EVER

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
really... who knew a cake without chocolate could be so good. It's amazing the way it is, but if you're feeling a bit guilty, I've replaced the buttermilk with non-fat milk and it's still delicious.

    YUMMY!!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I just made this cake and it is delicious. I didn't not make the sauce to go along with it in an effort to save some calories, and it's so good, I don't think it's needed. I was low on vegetable oil, so the only change I made was to use 3/4 cup of vegetable oil and 1/2 cup of greek yogurt....worked wonderfully. Cake is moist and flavorful and the coconut and pecans give it a nice texture. As the suggestion of a previous reviewer, I used a 9 x 13 pan and baked for exatly 1 hour...it was perfect.

An Indescribable Perfect Cake, especially great for Thanksgiving to Christmas holidays

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I have made this cake many times, sometimes adjusting the ingredients a bit, like adding some coconut oil or a different fruit, sometimes just pecans, sometimes pecans and walnuts, etc- but it remains one of the best recipes ever. Always moist- the sauce is perfect with just the right tang and sweetness soaking into the cake to make it indescribably yummy. It has become the basis for the best fruit cake I ever made- I add some extra fruit, like dried cherries, etc. that you plump up in water overnight- pecan halves on the top, and some Grand Marnier or liqueur to the sauce -let it set in the frig for a week and it becomes an incredible fruit cake. Absolutely everyone loves this cake- there are always raves and second helpings. It is a must do for the holidays or any special occasion. Always a big hit at office functions and parties. Stays wonderfully moist after freezing. Paula, this is one of the best things I have ever made or eaten and has become one of my favorite comfort foods!

The Best! AND easy one-bowl prep!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Everybody raved! Great to way to use leftover apples. Probably freezes well, surely makes a very nice gift. OK to add a couple of tablespoons bourbon to the sauce. Give it the full hour to soak up all that wonderful sauce! I found 1 hour 10 minutes to be plenty of cooking time.

    Turned it into a parfait!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I made this cake and skipped the sauce. Instead, I baked it close to dinner so that when it was time to serve it the cake was still a bit warm....but not hot. I took some parfait glasses and broke up the cake a bit in the bottom of each, added a bit of vanilla ice cream and then caramel. Added another layer of each and served it like that. It was fantastic and the perfect ending to a great dinner.
