My family loves this cake. I had to literally hide it from my husband. I followed the recipe exactly but didn't have any buttermilk so I substituted with regular milk and heavy cream and it was just as delicious. My family has already asked me to make it again.

Yum! This is a fantastic cake. I followed the recipe except I used 1/2 the butter in the glaze. The previous reviews are correct this recipe definitely is a keeper and worth all 5 stars. Thanks Paula!

I made this in a bundt pan. It took 1 hr 25 minutes to bake. I did find that the glaze actually overflowed out of the pan so it took me a while to get it all to absorb. Also, as someone else stated the glaze does foam a lot so next time I will use a larger sauce pan. I didn't have buttermilk so I made sour milk (1/2 Tbs white vinegar with the 1/2 c. of milk This is very moist and tasty, however, it was almost too sweet. Next time I will either use half of the glaze or eliminate it. I also had a little trouble getting the cake out. But I used pam instead of butter to grease the bundt pan so that might have caused the sticking. Overall, this is a keeper and I will for sure make it again.

My family got hooked on this cake three years ago and Now I have to make it several times a year. It is very very moist and yet the bottom is crunchy. You can't beat it.! pretty to look at and even chocolate lovers don't feel left out. Love it Love it.

Fellow Paula Lovers you are correct! This cake is AMAZING!!! Everytime I make it everyone loves it! At Christmas I made several to give away and they were a HIT!! The only problem is if I don't make one for my husband first he won't let me give it away! Thanks Paula for another AMAZING recipe!!

I join my 5 stars with the rest!! I made this for my husbands birthday, I always read the reviews before using a recipe, and they were overwhelmingly positive, so I knew I couldn't loose. The only addition I made was a handful of golden raisins, the houses smelt wonderful, but the taste was even better, I did halve the topping but it didn't seem to affect the result. Thank you Paula

I have made this cake only once. Do not cook for a lot people much. It was one of the best cakes I have ever made and everyone loved it. Had to give my brother-in-law half when he left. Going to make it for the second time and it will be taken to my son's 50th birthday party. Can't wait to see how it goes. You go Paula!
