I didn't change a thing , followed the recipe exactly and I was not disappointed . It was moist and delicious. My son took it to work and the boys loved it, and asked for the recipe . I steered them to the Food Network and Paula Deen. Thanks Paula

I absoultely love this cake!... It was like being back in my Grandma's kitchen. this is an easy cake to make after you get all ingredients together. I made 2 of them one for my family and I asked my husband to take the other one to his office. He came home that evening and said that all the men at work loved it!! and they wanted me to make more and bring to the Company Picnic in 2 weeks.. So now I know what I'll be bringing.. THANK YOU PAULA for a Great Recipe.

This cake was absolutely amazing! I didn't add coconut because my sons don't like it but I followed the rest of the recipe to the letter. I don't know what other folks did wrong that complained about it being greasy. No way! It was wonderful. I'll be making this one again....maybe even tomorrow!!

I made two of these last weekend -- one for my BF's mother's birthday, and one for the office. Each time, I substituted 1/2 c applesauce + 1/2 c buttermilk for 1 cup of the required 1 1/2 c oil. It worked like a charm, and drastically reduced the fat content. The cake was moist and flavorful and smelled so good! It was super easy to put together -- the most time consuming part is chopping the apples. Everyone who tried it loved it and I will definitely make it again.

I did make the glaze, both times, (and it was delicious but I think that next time I might leave that off for a more subtle flavor.

I was really excited to make this recipe for my family for Memorial Day barb-b-q,
I used a glass cake pan, my error, and baked for 1hour and 25 minutes, another
mistake, it was so dry . . I plan on making this recipe again, with a bundt pan,
is a tube pan and bundt pan basically the same thing ?

This cake is a winner! The only criticism I have is that it does not look as unbelievable as it tastes. I wanted to put a note on it saying "please try me....you will be amazed". I served it at a party among many other "pretty" deserts......and lots of chocolate - but those who did taste it could not put it down and wanted the recipie immediately. I wish the fat content was not as astronomical as it is - but totally worth the splurge on a special occasion. Bravo Paula! You are the queen of the dessert table!

I'm not a huge apple fan ...or maybe I should say that I didn't think I was until now. This cake is absolutely amazing. The glaze makes it even more perfect in my opinion. I did pour 2/3 of the glaze over it in the pan and reserved 1/3 for the top after turning it out. The crunchy outside combined with the moist inside is perfection. This is definitely one of my family's favorites after today! Happy cooking and eating everyone!

After reading other reviews, the only change I made was to substitute 3/4 C (chunky applesauce, 1/2 C veg. oil and 1/4 C buttermilk for the 1 1/2 C veg. oil and OH MY GOSH...this is indeed "finger lickin' good!!" Other than the wonderful taste, the best part is that this is a cake and a muffin-like bread all rolled into one. Great anytime of the day and for any meal...or snack..or all by itself! :

I substituted white flour for whole wheat. I also used 1/2 cup less sugar, 1/2 cup less oil and used olive oil in the cake and didn't use all of the frosting to help cut down on calories and fat. It turned out absolutely delicious.
