My sister is hosting a cookie swap and I was inspired to bake these after seeing Paula's show. What a great cookie! Buttery pecans - not too sweet, just right!!! And easy to bake too! I shaped mine in balls instead of crescents and I simply sifted some powdered sugar over them as they cooled. Everyone has loved them. I can't wait to share them tomorrow night!

Absolutely the best! Similar to the Italian wedding cookie, these buttery & nutty delights will have you reaching for the cookie jar again and again and again. Hint: Let these tasty morsels cool ever so slightly before you roll them in additional 10x sugar. If you try it right out of the oven, the heat from the cookie will cause the powdered sugar to smear & become slightly gooey.
Debuting their very first holiday season in our home, they've quickly reached "holiday tradition" status. Mmm Mmm, Good! :

My former and old polish neighbor made these but used finely ground walnuts instead. These are SO much better. The only part i found difficult was getting them rolled in the powdered sugar before the next batch would be ready to come out of the oven. These are possibly THE BEST Holiday cookie I have ever tasted. Not overly sweet, but oh so yummy!

My family has been making these cookies for many many years, but we use almond extract instead of vanilla. It gives them a slight different taste and they are very popular.

When I saw Paula and her sons making these cookies, I had to have the recipe. They looked too good to pass up. I printed out the recipe and made a batch last night. These cookies are absolutely delicious! This is my first time making them and I will be making them more often. The only differences were I used margarine instead of butter and shaped them into rounds. Using the margarine didn't change the flavor of the cookies. Even my mom enjoys them and she doesn't eat a lot of sweets! I love these cookies. Thanks Paula for sharing this recipe.

This is the close to a reciepe my grandmother made and after she passed at 100 years old. I was to get her box of reciepe but when we went to get them from storage the mice had got to them . So I lost all the family favorite and am starting over. But am put them on my computer and on back up disk for my grandchildren and other family members. Thank you Paula. You have the same stlye of cooking both my gandmother had. God Bless you and your lovely family. Kim from Washington State.

These cookies are awesome. Paula has done it again. These cookies are wonderful, just as delicious as her Monster Cookies. Going to have to make both this year, I made the Monster cookies last year and they were a BIG hit. I made some and as I made them they disappeared. I can guarantee that it will happen with these again.

I made these today, after seeing Paula's holiday baking show yesterday and saw how her sons gobbled them up. My friends and I do an annual cookie swap each holiday season and I usually make about 3 different types of cookies: one sugar cookie batch, one nutty cookie and one specialty type cookie. These were a great option for the nutty cookie.
They were so good right after sugaring them out of the oven, that it was hard to stop eating them all warm & toasty! I made a double batch (doubled everything and cooked about a dozen to test out today and then rolled the rest of the dough into balls to freeze and then make with my friends next weekend.
The consistency of the cookies was so nice -- dry & almost crunchy on the inside, with the softness of confectioner's sugar on the outside. Definitely sweet enough but an awesome alternative to the super sugary cookies that most holiday cookies tend to be.
Would be very easy to make with kids, especially if you grind the nuts ahead of time. Rolling the dough into litle balls, then logs and then shaping them into a moon would be a hit with the little ones. The hint to keep flouring your hands as you shape the cookies is a good one, it's a sticky dough.
Will definitely save this recipe and make again. Probably way before the next holiday cookie swap.

I was so happy to get this recipe tonight. My grandmother use to make what seems to me to be the exact same cookie, except she also added cinammon to the batter. These cookies are GREAT!!
