very simple with great results. however for a little added zing, i added a dried caribbean jerk seasoning (now i use anything i like e.g. cajun, b-b-q etc,hot wings and marinate for 1/2 hour before frying.

This recipe for Fried Chicken is the same that my beloved Mama made when I was a youngerst. I remember smelling that fried & steamed chicken from out side the road....I would tell my friend...."I gotta do my home work now (which was not the truth" I ONLY wanted to see Mama working my favorite dish of fried chicken in a cass iron pan...MMMMM...so good...and the gravy also the same ...we had corn with our fried chicken and mashed potatoes....MMM
menories I never forget....and NOW dream of the same thing as I watch you Paula Deen...do your "Grandma Paul Fried Chicken" . I cried too. all those teriffic rescipes of the past....thank you Paula, we love you here in Hawaii...

This is exactly the way my mom taught me and her mom before her taught her. You're right, tried and true and delicious! Watching paula mist up made me mist up as well, yep, grandmas are always missed, but thru their recipes, it's like having them back in the kitchen with the apron tied around their waist. Thanks Paula, for the chicken and the memories!

I just caught the end of the show and want to try the Fried Chicken recipe. I watched the video and notice that Paula mentioned that the pieces are "seasoned heavily with salt and pepper". Can sometone tell me how much you used? I don't want to over or under season the chicken.
