I made this cake for my neighbor's birthday, and it was a hit. My husband couldn't stop eating it. It was very moist and flavorful. I will definitely make it again...maybe next time with just two layers (my preferance. Loved it!

This cake was absolutely scrumptious! It was easy to make and so moist and the icing is to die for.
My daughter wanted a red velvet cake for her 22nd birthday and when I saw Paulas show, I knew I had to make this one. When my daughter came home she hardly got her luggage set down before she wanted to cut into the cake. She said it was the best one she'd ever eaten and thanked me over and over again. Thanks Paula for sharing this heavenly recipe!
It is now in my recipe box to be passed down for generations.

I'm doing a test run of this cake today for my sister's bridal shower I am throwing at the end of next month. Her colors are red and purple (prettier than it sounds, I promise so I am considering changing the color of the cake to purple and the frosting to red. Wish me luck. So far however, the cake is delicious. I know some have said that they thought the flavor was a little dull but I really like the lightness of the flavors for a party with heavier foods. I'm excited about having her try it this weekend to get her opinion. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!!

I made this for a Southern Bridal Shower that I threw a friend of mine. All of the Groom's relatives were Peruvian and had never even heard of Red Velvet Cake. Needless to say, thanks to Paula, there was not a single slice of Red Velvet Cake left at the end of the shower...and everyone left with the recipe! I had to go print it out for everyone during the shower! The wedding was last week and all anyone could talk about at the wedding was my Bridal Shower and my Red Velvet Cake recipe. The Bride and Groom have made me promise that I will bake it for them on every anniversary. Thanks Paula for making my shower such a hit!!!

I absolutely loved this cake and I've read other peoples reviews and they say that the directions dont mention where to add the butter, but that is the very first direction. This cake was amazing although when i made it it was a little sour but excellent job!
