Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (12-ounce) can buttermilk biscuits
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Generously grease a 9-inch square baking dish. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon and mix well with a fork. Separate biscuit dough into 10 biscuits. Cut each biscuit into quarters, and dip each piece in melted butter and coat with brown sugar mixture. Arrange in a single layer in baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of the oats.

Combine blueberries and sugar in a bowl and toss to coat. Spoon over oats and biscuits and sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup oats. Drizzle remaining melted butter on top. Bake for 20 minutes or until cake is golden brown and center is done. Cool for 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I really questioned how good this recipe could be. So easy it probably wasn't going to taste very special. Well I was so... wrong. Lucky to have fresh blueberries at the market. Served wirh vanilla ice cream. Love you Paula..bring on the butter..lol. Everyone raved about this coffee cake. Will make again. Wonder how it is with apples or pears?Read more

I made this with the original blueberries...SO delicious. BUT, I also made it with strawberries, and it was phenomenal! So... either way, it was amazing and my husband couldn't keep his hands off of it! I recommend this to anyoneRead more

This has got to be the easiest most basic recipe ever! I made it for my family brunch one Sunday and it was a huge hit! I'm... making it again for dessert tonight. We wanted something different for dessert and this fits the bill!Read more

    Favorite breakfast dish!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
When my husband knows I'm making this for breakfast he literally cheers! It's our favorite sweet breakfast dish. A few... suggestions as many others have said, I cook it longer- and in a bigger dish. Everyone who said the middle doesn't get cooked through- it's probably because they're using too small of a dish. Makes a huge difference! Also, I only use 1/2 stick of butter and end up using about 1 cup of the brown sugar. I use fresh strawberries instead of blueberries, slice them, and lightly coat them with sugar. Delicious! They kind of blend in with the biscuits unlike the blueberries rolling around. Read more

Couple ways to make prep quicker

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I have the recipe in the oven but started thinking about ways to make the prep go quicker (as well as the baking time): 1.... Melt butter, pour half into bottom of 11"x7" baking dish (2qt size dish). Sprinkle with half the brown sugar mixture. 2. Cut biscuits into small pieces. Use a pizza cutter to make this go quick. 3. Sprinkle the bottom of the pan with the biscuit pieces; drizzle with remaining butter and sprinkle brown sugar mixture over top. 4. Sprinkle with half the oatmeal. 5. Pour blueberries over top (I reduced the sugar as others have suggested and smashed them slightly in the bowl. I also used 2c since I had a pint). 6. Sprinkle with remaining oatmeal. 7. Bake as directed. With the increase in surface area it should decrease the baking time. I also reduced the butter by half because the recipe seemed like the suggested amount could be overkill.Read more
