HA! Paula guess what you did! well, I do NOT like green beans in any way and my husband said he only liked them once when he was a little boy. He somehow craved them for Christmas so I took your recipe and ..... hahhaa there were no leftovers and I had seconds too!! yay for the recipe. The only thing I did different was that I boiled them in only 2 cups of stock and I then cut them in 1/2 inch pieces (to make sure they are edible to me as I do not like them :D. it's perfect, it may not be the healthiest recipe but it's definitely a way how to put those green bad boys in my belly. Love love loved it. next time I will make a double portion.

This green bean casserole is so much better than the standard recipe everyone makes. This is not hard and it's worth the extra few minutes. I have to admit I prefer it without the cheese on top.
Thank you Paula, I will make this recipe year after year!

It tasted like green beans with a can of concentrated cream of mushroom soup spooned over it. I'd rather that the soup have at least a half can of milk stirred into it and added cheese and mushrooms to that mixture cooking it on the stove(until the cheese melted and then stirred in the French's Onions and and green beans - then poured it into a buttered baking dish and finished it off the way the recipe is written. As it was, it was just awful. Made it today to go with Christmas Dinner - there was plenty left over!

This is a very yummy green bean casserole. I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone devoured it especially my dad. My dad requested that I make it for Christmas dinner. This time I am tripling the recipe it hopes there are some leftovers. This time I will cut back on the butter, I felt like there was just too much butter.

We have made this Casserole for numerous family events and it is always a favorite. Considering the green bean casserole I grew up on was always the red-headed stepchild of the spread, this is a very very pleasant surprise!
We always use SHARP Cheddar cheese (good quality and fresh, never frozen green beans.
If you plan to feed more than 4 people, double the recipe - many people return for seconds and thirds!

Me: "Yuck." The hubby: "Not bad!" This was overpowered with the taste of fresh mushrooms. If you like mushrooms, then you may like this recipe. I can tolerate the mushrooms found in the soup, but not this. My husband, who likes mushrooms, indicated it was a good recipe. This was pretty easy to put together and I liked the fact one could just add everything to the skillet to stir before putting it in the casserole dish.

I would give the taste 5 star. Why 4? Because of the can Cream of Mushroom. I never like the taste of canned food and I hardly walk down canned food section in the store. Paula's recipes usually start from scratch. I was disppoined when I saw the "can" in the recipe.
However, I followed the recipe and LOVE IT. Fresh beans tastes great. I didn't 100% follow the House Seasoning. I just put a pinch of everything that calls out in the Seasoning. The Cream of Mushroom is salty enough, along with cheese. Really, I didn't need much more than that. Everyone at the table loved this dish, so did I.
