I have made this a few times now and it is awesome. I made a couple minor adjustments though. I do not add the butter, (you really won't miss it, and i use about 6 strips of bacon in place of the salt pork. This is a must try recipe, full of flavor!

I made this for dinner tonight and it was delicious, I was concerned about the salt pork, it was a lot salty than I thought it would be but it seasoned everything perfectly. Thanks Paula!

I couldn't find good-looking green beans so I made this with a can of black beans instead and no salt pork. Cut down on the cooking time and it was delicious!

I followed the recipe to the letter, even added more butter. My family loved it.

These were fantastic! I used whole canned green beans (drained and canned, sliced potatoes and adjusted the cook time. So tasty that you'll think Grandma made them. My 90 year old mother in law and husband loved them.

I didn't follow this recipe to the letter, substituting only bacon for the salt pork. But it really is very good. I cooked for family dinner, and everyone loved.

This is just what I was looking for. Just like Momma makes um! Can't beat these for fresh green beans. I completely omitted the butter as there is no need at all for it in this recipe. Full of flavor from the bacon drippings and salt pork. Go buy some green beans and make this today!
