Juz like my Mama's! Personally, I prefer a ham hock to the salt pork but either is fine. In the Southern spirit of "more is more" we always passed some mayo to dollop on the potatoes. How a recipe this great could be on the same show with that pathetic "Mexican Chicken" is beyond me

I loved this recipe. I have never been able to get my kids to do anything more than try one or two green beans. I had them try these and they asked for more. They asked me to never make those kind in a can again. I won't.

I made a big pot of green beans and potatoes and took to my mother's 80th birthday dinner. Every one raved about how good they were. And wished I had made two pots of them. I smiled sweetly and told them that Paula and I both say thank you very much. : And Paula we all do mean thank you so very much. I wish I could give ten stars instead of just 5.

Born and raised in the South, I have missed my Great Aunt's Sunday green beans for many years. I had such fond memories of those flavorful soft beans and hadn't been able to duplicate them.
These are the old time southern kentucky wonder green beans I loved.
