Wonderful and very tasty! I made this for a dept-wide potluck dinner at work and it was a big hit! I doubled the recipe and it was all gone within 45 min.! I personally thought it was too salty, but my co-workers loved it! When I make it for my teenagers, I cut back on the salt. We are having it tonight with pulled BBQ pork, thanks for the great recipe!

This was fantastic! Real southern flavor. I gave it a 4 only because it was really salty--next time I will use less salt, and maybe just a touch less fat.

OMG ! ! ! ! Love it. Had this for Thanksgiving the first time and now we have it at least once a month on Sunday. I followed the recipe exactly and it feed 6 grown ups, we all had seconds and there was plenty for leftovers. Its a very salty southern meal that will have you begging for more.

I made this recipe for a crowd yesterday and they ate every bite. The beans have a lot of flavor, not blah like so many green bean dishes. It could be improved though: The cooking time is on the long side--reducing the simmering by 15-20 minutes would make the beans less mushy, and the dish would probably taste just fine without the butter thrown in at the end because there's plenty of pork fat for a zippy taste and pleasant mouth feel. But overall, a very flavorful, colorful side dish that everyone at my table really enjoyed. I will definitely make this recipe again.

Awesome! Found 'Pole' Beans this time of year and they were wonderful. Best Green Beans I've had. Solid country cooking.

The best green beans ever! I took the beans off after 20 minutes and cooked the potatoes separately. They were perfect. I think that they would have been overcooked if I kept them on the whole time and with the potatoes. I did add some broth to the potatoes. I also used less salt then was called for.

Fabulous, just like my mom made. Fortunately I was given a bunch of fresh green beans & had to search for a recipe. Tried this one and was totally delighted

Delicious. I don't particularly care for beans, but my southern born husband said that these were the best green beans he's had in the last 50 years. Did I say delicious?

These were delicious. I didn't stick to the exact quantities but followed the basic recipe except I used thick sliced bacon in place of the pork. I agree with the other reviewers that you don't need to add salt. The bacon and broth give off plenty of salt. I also think you need to add the potato's earlier by about 10 minutes as I had to cook far longer to get the potato's cooked and that made the green beans more done than I would have liked but they were still fantastic.
