We made these for Fathers Day dinner and my family could not get over how good these were. I didn't know what Salt pork was and I heard its hard to find in the west coast so I used a pound of bacon instead and it turned out really good.
Thanks Paula, your helping me become a better cook and my husband thanks you too.

The best green beans and potatoes you've ever tasted! Just like your Granny use to make. Not the quickest but so worth it. The flavors are mouth waterin' good and you don't even have to season the potatoes once there on the plate. This is a must try if you've never had southern green beans.

Great Southern recipe! It takes awhile to make, but boy is it worth it! My 10, 6, and 2 year old couldn't get enough green beans!

These are wonderful. I made a pot for church pot luck. They were so good I had to make another for home. I just love Paula!! My wish is to meet her some day before I die! I loved her new book!

Easy to make, great southern green beans!!! We didn't even add the butter at the end and they didn't need it, just don't tell Paula.

My mom prepared this similarly when I was a kid. The beans did not need 30 minutes. I should have checked them earlier. We love onions, so I also served it with fresh chopped onions and a splash of apple cider vinegar (Penn Dutch style. Very good.
