This sandwich was DEEELucious, although I decided to lighten it up a bit. I used lowfat mayo and only about 1/2 the amount the recipe called for. I then used only 2 slices of cheddar and brushed the tops of bread with olive oil. Definitely slice apples thin...and DO NOT substitute bacon, this makes the sandwich! We ate 1/2 sandwich served up with a winter veggie soup...what a compliment! The family loved it!!

after burning the onions twice, i decided to saute them instead and that worked out just fine. i have to say this one is a keeper, soooo good and so much flavor in every bite.i also use the mayo on regular sandwhiches as well. love it !!!

I just made this sandwich and used Trader Joe's Applewood Smoked Bacon, TJ's sourdough bread, and colby jack cheese instead of cheddar. It is fantastic. I think I'll make it for some friends later on this week!

This sandwich was a real hit with the family but I did make some changes; only one slice of cheddar and sliced the apples super thin. Will definitely serve it again!

My husband and I loved this sandwich! The mayo I made the day before - and it is so good on other things too! The only change I made is to only use 2 slices of cheese per sandwich. My new favorite sandwich!

This sandwich has been dubbed the "ABC" sandwich in our house. It is SOOOO good and so easy to make. I didn't have any sourdough or onion in the house the first time I made this sandwich, so I didn't use any obviously. Didn't matter- I used thick smokehouse style bacon and finely shredded cheese with gala apples. Lovely flavor and thumbs up from all around. Thanks Paula!

THis was a wonderful surprise. I didn't expect them to be as great as they were! The taste was excellent and it still had the classic taste of grilled cheese. I will make this again and again and again!

I just made this sandwhich, and I was a little suprised! I put two slices of sharp cheddar cheese, and that was too much! Next time, I will only add one. I just can't take all that cheese! I will also slice the apples MUCH thinner next time...something about eating an apple on a sandwich that kind of makes it seem less appetizing to me. Once I finally ate it though, I thought I would defintely make this again. Always good to change your normal grilled cheese up!
