I doubled the grits but left everything else the same. It came out perfectly! Love the texture, it's almost like tapioca pie!

An unusual but delicious pie. I halved the butter in the recipe and used only 1/2 stick; also used skim milk as I didn't have buttermilk on hand. The pie was still rich and custardy. Would definitely make this again.

Well, I like grits but am not a big fan of them like my hubby is. He just loved the pie and told me I can make it any time I want to. So if he was rating this, he'd give it 5 stars. It was good but I prefer a regular custard pie over this.

Yum and so easy! I didn't think I was a fan of grits until this pie. I had to cook mine for 50 minutes before it was set all the way through and I used Quaker 5 minute grits but that was the only recipe variation I had. Would definitely recommend trying this.

I have longed for my "Poppy's" sugar cream pie and when I tried the Grits Pie I thought
my Poppy was in the kitchen with me. It has brought wonderful yummy memories!
I have also made an addition to the receipt by adding 1/2 cup of toasted coconut and my
friend think I have spent hours making an old fashion coconut custard pie. shh don't tell.

Love it!! A lot of people have never tried or don't like grits but every time I make this pie no one realizes that there are grits in it, they take it as a custard pie and just gobble it down. Just wonderful in the morning with your coffee (hot nescafe. If there are leftovers warm it up in the oven not the microwave (as it makes it soggy and you don't want that. Whipped cream on it and you are good to go.

Amazing pie, beautiful texture and fabulous taste. I did have a little trouble getting it to set and ended up having to cook it close to an hour. Really good though!

Fantastic, everyone is always clamoring for more of this unique custard-like pie. Another ringer Paula.
