If you like Gumbo, this is the best. My entire family loved it.

This was my first time ever trying a gumbo recipe and it was a hit at the dinner table!!!
I already have requests to make this again for our next family get-together, holiday, etc.
Even my picky-eater husband enjoyed it.

This was my first try at Gumbo and I was very nervous but it was really easy to follow and I even made the roux. I did change a few things like I used boneless skinless thighs instead of breast and I used 2 cup of the water I boiled them in instead of 4 cups of water, I also used crab legs and boiled the shrimp shells to make a shrimp stock which added lots of flavor. I also slow cooked it for about 1.5 hrs before adding shrimp and crab legs and then cooked it all together for another 30 minutes which made all the difference as far as the flavors coming together. While I used this recipe as a base I think my gumbo was more a mix of Paula Deen and Emeril.

Easier than it looks, with fantastic results and great taste. My son's comment, "You made this?!! Ummmm!" Freeze in 2-cup servings great for the college student to have something of home. Thanks!!!!

This was by far THE best tasting gumbo I have ever had. Making the roux was a little scary, but I ended up having to add more margarine and water than in the recipe to prevent it from burning, but oh my gosh, was it worth ever bit of effort!

Another great recipe from Paula! I used spicy andouille sausage in this recipe, and didn't need to add hot sauce or anything else to it. This recipe has a perfect blend of flavors. I will definitely make this one again. This is good weekend afternoon recipe.
