After reading the reviews of others who commented on the runny, watery consistency of this pie, I made sure to saute the vegetables until all the water was cooked out of them. It was still incredibly soupy. After cooking the required amount of time, it was so soupy that I vented the top of the pie and baked it for another 40 minutes to try to reduce the liquids somewhat. Even then, it was still too watery. And the mustard was way too much. It overpowered all the other flavors. I'll try this again but will cut the mustard in half as well as the tomatoes and will carefully strain the sofrito before adding it to the pie.

I have taken this to four different events since first making it last November. Oh, my! I have not brought home even one single crumb of crust, and I had one lady get very upset when my dish upstaged hers. :-
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This recipe was excellent!!! I already make a great Cuban pulled pork, and I used it in the pie. Also to cut down on the calories, I put the mustard on the bottom, and a layer of black beans on the top instead of the cream-mustard sauce. This will be made in my house again and again from now on!

Skip the crust and go with your own or pre-made. Also -- be sure that you use lean pulled pork. This was so good when I made it at lunch that I made a 2nd one right away to deliver to a shut-in for dinner!

I tried this recipe after seeing the show. The recipe doesn't say it but Guy in the show they used premade purcahsed pie shells. I think the pie could also be baked and frozen for later reheating (without the sour cream topping of course.

Pie is my favorite desert and my husband and I love to try new recipes. When we saw this pie on Paula's Party we could hardly wait to get cooking. I make an excellent, flaky pie crust but we decided to make this recipe since it wasn't a 'desert' pie. We followed the complete recipe, using crisco for shortening. The crust fell completely apart and was extremely greasy overpowering all the ingredients. We even baked it an extra 20 minutes to brown the top. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and ate cereal for dinner.

When my wife first showed me this recipe, I thought it was going to take forever to put it all together, but we worked as a team on this one, and had it ready in time for Sunday's Football game. 2 notes about this recipe. Cut back a bit on the garlic, and cook all of the water out of the veggies. This was Mmmmm so very Yummy good, definitely a winner in our house...
