This is a great recipe. I made a few minor changes (1. Added onions, 2. Reduced mayo, and 3. Added 1/4 C White Wine - Delish! I must say though I'm not sure about the chips as the topping, and I am a chips nut. I think buttered panko bread crumbs might be better. I will try it with those next time.

My family loves this dish-even my four year old. I've never really liked hot mayonaise, but it's delicious in this recipe.

I have been making this salad for over two years now and we enjoy it every time. I use peanuts or cashews instead of almonds and I always make sure I use fresh lemon juice. The salad needs it to cut through some of the richness from the mayo. It's a great salad in the winter!

I made this with leftover smoked chicken. I served it with plain rice, which in my opinion it needed. Or it would have been good with some crisp greens. We all enjoyed it. Thanks!

Yeah, it's rich with the mayo and cheese but is a pretty good low carb meal without the chips. I'll make it again.

I can see why all the complaints about the amount of mayo. I have been making hot chicken salad for years and everyone loves it. I use 4 cups of cubed chicken. to one cup mayo and 1 can cream of chicken soup. 2 cups celery, minced onion, 1 can sliced water chestnuts, sliced, well drained. I also stir in 4 chopped hard boiled eggs. Mix mayo and soup with 2 tbsp lemon juice before stiring into casserole. Refrigerate overnight. Next day Place in 9 x 13 glass pan top with
1 cup slivered almonds and 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. Sprinkle 2 cups crushed potato chips over all.
1 can french fried onions can be substituted for the chips. Give it one more try, you might be surprised!!

This is a family favorite in our house.. easy to prepare and quick. .I use up the left over rotisserie chicke and make a quick meal and serve w/ noodles or rice..
can add chopped broccoli to this also. Onions are a must!
Don't over cook or it will break down the mayo/cheese.. can cut back on amts used too.
