This smells so good when it's percolating. Once you've used your coffeepot to make it, however, it always has the smell of cloves and cinnamon sticks in it! We recommend you dedicate a cheap percolator to this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 cinnamon sticks, plus additional to use as stirrers
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 6 cups cranberry juice
  • 8 cups apple juice
  • Light rum, brandy, or bourbon, optional

Directions

Put the sugar, cinnamon sticks, and cloves in the basket of a coffee percolator. Put the juices in the bottom of the percolator. Let the mixture perk as if making coffee. Serve with cinnamon stick stirrers, if desired, and with a little rum, brandy, or bourbon as well.

I made this for my family for Thanksgiving last year and they loved it. I did make one change. Since I am a diabetic I used Splenda Brown Sugar and low sugar cranberry and apple juice. My family could not tell the difference.
Now I have to make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My son puts in a speacial order for it.

I made this for Thanksgiving a few years ago. Now it's my turn to do Thanksgiving again and this was the first thing I thought of making! It was absolutely delicious. I made this on the stove top and it came out wonderfully. I just all the ingredients in a coffee filter and tied off the top and threw it in the pot with the liquid. It came out great!

This cider was delicious, I made on Thanksgiving this year and it was a big hit. All of my family has asked me to make it again for Christmas. Great stuff.
