I grew up on the Steinhatchee River in Steinhatchee, Fl. Located on the Gulf Of Mexico. My Daddy was a commeracial fisherman, he owned his own boat and also his fish house. Wholesale & Retail seafood. Not far from Gainesville, Fl. [Go Gators] west from there. Hushpuppies was made at all seafood meals and also we made the same kind of fried cornbread we just left out the onions. Good with all Greens & Vegs. Now when we made them for fish or seafood dinners instead of onions in the reacipe, we used garlic powder. Hushpuppies are so good with guava or plum jelly. Thanks for the memories. I do love your show, I have your cook books and I also give them for gifts. Hope to visit Savanna, Ga. and go to your resturant. I'm a die hard southern girl. Yours Truly, Gail Cassidy

I grew up on hush puppies back in N.C. and have had many different "kinds" of h.p.'s, many outstanding. These are the best I've ever had. I think the keys are buttermilk and flour. I used White Lily self rising flour and House & Autry self rising yellow cornmeal. We had these with the best N.C. barbecue from Hursey's BBQ in Burlington, N.C., shipped overnight from N.C. Ahhhh, a Tar Heel food extravaganza for this California resident! Thanks, Paula!!!

This is so easy! My family aren't big hushpuppy eaters but they LOVED this one. Now,whenever we have a dish thathushpuppies go with, they have to have this. Thanks Paula.

hushpuppies, how easy...if I had known
making them would be that quick,

These hushpuppies brought back the fondest memories of my childhood. These are so scrumptious! Fluffy inside and a perfectly fabulous, crunchy outside. Sorry, puppies, the kids just love these too much to share! (moms, too!

Well now, I tried this, and it did not get me nor my family going. I am a southern gal, and this just tasted a littl to light weight, I mean that is the best way i can describe it. I love hushpuppies, but this really felt like its missing something. On that note I still love her food , and this is one that i am going to have to put aside.

These hushpuppies were so good and easy!!! I had them made 5 minutes after getting the recipe off the website!! My little boy enjoyed helping, also. After making half using the recipe, I added a half can of corn to the rest and it made them extra yummy!!!Delicious!!!
