This cake is the best type of cake that I have ever had. When Paula Deen was baking this cake my mouth was watering. When I tasted it I thought I was in heaven even though I was beening poked by the toothpicks.

Truly loved this cake! I used long barbeque skewers instead of toothpicks to hold the layers together. Once they were in place,(into the bottom layer I removed them to pile on the next layer, then re-inserted them. Remove the skewers as you slice.

recipe is terrific - i now look for excuses to make one.

only change i made was to grind the coconut with the sugar in the filling for the filling and substitute more coconut milk for regular. this way even more coconut flavor gets into the layers.

This cake was EXCELLENT. One thing I did that was mentioned on her show, but not in the recipe, was after filling the layers, I wrapped them in foil and left in the fridge for 3 days before frosting. Paula said the filling and cake need time to "marinate". It was fabulous.

i normally do not take the time to review recipes, but this one was worth it. the sour cream filling takes the edge off of the sweetness and gives a little depth of flavor and the seven minute frosting is fun and really good. you cannot go wrong with this recipe.

Great cake - very rich and sweet - especially if you're a coconut lover. I made it for my boyfriend and he loved it. Next time I wouldn't put the filling on top of the 3rd layer (i.e. on top of the cake. It makes it tricky to frost and I think the other layers could use more filling.
