Deffinitely too salty! Cut down on the base! Other than athat it came out pretty good.

"And might I mention that the producer of this recipe, (how I love you Paula Dean! is medically overweight/obese. Just like most of the southern united states population, where they traditionally cook with raw, animal based fats like the ones in this recipe."

Please don't make sweeping generalizations about a very large region of the US that you don't even live in. The kind of food you are talking about is found everywhere, not just the South, where MANY of us actually do eat healthy. Most of the US population is overweight, not just the South. Jerk.

This was easy to make and so tasty! I did however use less of the chicken base and I sauted the carrots in olive oil with celery and garlic. The flavor came together nicley. The recipe made more than four individual cups so I froze the leftovers for next week.

Great recipe full of vitamin loaded broth, cream and other fat based nutrients, and for all of you who still think that fat makes you fat and the earth is flat, please check out the work of the Dr. Weston A Price foundation and the case for real food, the processed food and low fat movement is causing the obesity epidemic, not healthy nutrients like fats and minerals.

I really enjoyed this recipe, a I am always encountering the pot pies that have a crust underneath and thereby take a long time in the cooking process. It was nice that the crust lattice was easy, yet it made the dish look so professional, and the whole family ate it. which in a home with two very choosy teenagers was a feat in itself. Thanks Paula for yet another yummy family fave. I have begun a cookbook of things my kids like to eat, so when (or if? they move out they can cook some of the things they really enjoyed and I am happy to announce it may be easier to just buy them both a Paula Dean cookbook...

This chicken pot pie was awesome! I actually added a good amount of both Dijon and Honey mustard to the mixture while it was still in the pot and it came out great! I will definitely be making this recipe again! Its great for a cold winter night! Really warms you up!

I made this and my family of very picky eaters just loved it. I did not have any puff pastry so I used some crescent rolls. Just spread each triangle out and coated with egg then baked. Turned out flaky and light. I think the next time I'll add a bit of potato! Incredible flavor so thanks for another great one, Miss Paula

    Hello Sheila,

Usually salted butter is used for cooking and unsalted is used for baking.
