Ingredients

  • 2 cups granola (recommended: Hudson Valley Dessert Company)
  • 3/4 cups coarsely chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cups coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 (3 1/2-ounce) can flaked coconut (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds (meat only)
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup banana chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup dark raisins
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots, diced

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except banana chips and raisins, cherries and apricots. Mix well. Spread evenly in an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. Delicious!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Great recipe! What I like to do is use a dried fruit blend. Tropical is my favorite, along with the raisins. I do not like... coconut, so I omit that part. Also,I like to make a double batch and use 1 can of condensed milk and then fill it with normal milk. Works out just fine! thanks to those who mentioned the reduced cooking time. Read more

    OMG

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Talk about delicious! I just finished my second batch of this and I lowered the cooking time to 40-45 min. I like mine with... a bit of a crunch. I purchased all my ingredients from a whole foods bulk grocer so everything was as fresh as it could be! This makes about 8 cups worth which doesn't seem like a lot, but trust me it's a lot! Great, Great, Great snack!Read more

very good, I too think that 60 minutes was much to long I did 50 and that was to much. But my kids, husband and even my... grandparents enjoyed the recipie. Delish! great snack for the car.Read more

    GREAT!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I just made this for company and I have to keep reminding myself not to munch on it! I used dried apples instead of dried... bananas- you could play with the fruit/nut combination. Thanks to the other reviewers who warned that 55-60 minutes is too long to cook. I checked mine at 40 minutes and it was a touch too brown. I'd start watching it closely after 30 minutes or so.Read more

    Addictive!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This trail mix is very addictive! It makes a large portion and will keep for several days. I liked all of the different... ingrediants. I left out a couple of things (wheat germ, 2 of the dried fruits) and you are still left with a tasty mix. Tasty by itself or mixed with yogurt. A Keeper!Read more

    Simply the best!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
Being rated 5 stars, i decided to try this recipe. I used parchment paper instead of foil and i had absolutely no problem of... the mix sticking. i used the top rack of my oven and stirred every 10 minutes just to make sure it wouldn't burn. I also used only 3/4 can of the condensed milk because i didn't want it too sweet. It came out perfect. I couldn't stop eating it and my daughter's got tired of hearing me rave about how good my trail mix came out. Using this trail mix over plain yogurt or as a breakfast cereal would be great. Just to have in a ziploc bag when you're on the run is a good thing too.Read more
