Made these cookies for Church. Substituted regular brown sugar for 1 cup Slenda brown sugar and did not ice them. Wow, got a lot of raves from congregation and recipe requests because of the Splenda. Great for diabetics. Will be a great cookie exchange recipe. Managed to get 6.5 dozen cookies.

Awesome cookie....leaves a regular oatmeal cookie in the dark! So moist and spicy, makes a fantastic holiday cookie.

LOVE these cookies! The brown butter frosting is awesome. I have made this recipe several times and always get requests for the recipes. We love walnuts so I usually add a little extra.

These were AMAZING!!! My 2 year old daughter is lactose intolerant and allergic to egg (and an extremely picky eater so I had to change the recipe up. I used her lactose free milk and added vinegar in place of the buttermilk and used margerine in place of butter. I also used applesauce in place of the egg and they were STILL amazing!!! Thanks Paula! My daughter is saying mmmmmm right now!

When i found this receipt it looked so GOOD, my grandma said we had to try it. My family doesn't like raisins in there cookies so i left those and the nuts out. To make up for that i added 1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin spice. When the cookies came out of the oven and had cooled we did a taste tester. They turned out so well that we did not add the icing. My family loved them so much i had to hid the Jar from them, just to make the cookies last. Thank you Paula for your awesome receipt.
