I have NEVER like sugar cream pie of any sort until I made this. My husband wanted me to make him one because they are expensive in the store. The first 2 or 3 pies didn't turn out so well, but now I know the recipe by heart. I have never watched the video and probably don't mix it the way your suppose to but it turns out every time. FOR THOSE HAVING TROUBLE: I put the flour and sugar in the bowl and then add the milk...cream it together and then while whipping I pour in the whipping cream and wham. Put a few butter pieces and nutmeg on top and in the oven it goes. Cooking time may very for some but make sure you cook at 450 for the first 10 minutes and then turn oven down to 350. GOOD LUCK!!

I followed this recipe exactly, except I cooked it for 10 minutes longer and it was pure liquid. I thought it would set once I refigerated it, but it was still runny. Did I just need to cook it longer? Someone help me? How did everyones turn out so good?

Ok, so obviously the recipe is written wrong. I tried to make it again after i watched the video. If you did not watch the video then there is no way you could know that you are supposed to WHIP THE CREAM before you mix it with the other ingredients. It sets up just fine, but after cooking it 15 minutes longer than the recipe states. Even then, I only give it one additional star because it tasted pretty flour-y to me.

Sugar Cream Pie is practically a staple in Indiana. I have searched for years for a good recipe, only to end up with a soupy mess with a butter puddle on top.

This recipe is the one that I have been looking for! It is so EASY, INEXPENSIVE AND DELICIOUS! If you have any trouble, keep putting it back in the oven for 3-5 minute incriments until the "cream" part of the pie sets up.

    YUM!!! :

I remember my mom had 2 recipes for sugar cream pie, and neither turned out the same every time. I love Wicks Sugar Cream Pie, but can only find them when I visit my home state of Indiana. I tried this today for a pot luck at my church and it was great! I watched the video and whipped the cream first, and it mixed together really well. Only 1 other person at my church knew what it was, (she is a fellow hoosier, but many others complimented me. I will make it again.

I have never made Sugar Cream Pie before and it is my husband's favorite. I just made two pies for my him for father's day. I read the other reviews and was sure to "whip" the whipping cream. They turned out awesome and I also used Paula's recipe for homemade pie crust. Cook time was perfect...I was just sure to cover the edge of the crust on my second pie.

I made this recipe 2 times...TWICE. Neither time did it set up. It came out of the oven a soupy mess. Cooled on the counter and went into the fridge overnight. IT DID NOT SET UP...EITHER TIME!. Don't waste your time and money...there are more sugar cream pie recipes to try.

So I'm researching the "best" sugar cream pie for a friends birthday and come upon Mae Dawson's. Most of the other recipe's I reviewed have you mix the cream and sugar with your finger. When I see the ingredient for 1 cup of "whipping cream", I take this literally and use 1 cup of whipping cream, not 1 cup of whipping cream "whipped". Must I watch the video to see that you have misled the cook with a misprint?
Pie is in the oven....... we will see.

I made the pie according to the video...I whipped the cream FIRST. It took longer to bake then the time stated. 450 at 10 min. then about 50 minutes at 350. It was all gone within an hour of serving.

Made this one for my family today and they loved it, even my two year old! I will definitely make this one again. It was easy, and tasted like I slaved over it all day long!
