These cookies are not easy to make! They take a lot of time, and you have to work quickly when they come out of the oven. I also had a hard time making each batch the same size. As far as taste, they're great! I got many compliments on both the taste and the beautiful appearance.

In the middle of making these, I had to log on and read other reviews to get some ideas since things weren't turning out for me. Finally, I figured it out and they turned out very well. First of all, I elminated the tin foil and just used my non-stick cookie sheet. Once I removed them from the oven, I waited for 60-90 seconds and then used a non-stick spatula to lift them off the ccokie sheet, as I did this then I rolled them onto a wooden spoon. Since I already had a very rich chocolate parfait prepared, I opted to NOT fill these cookies. They were delightful just sticking out of my parfaits! So, bottomline. . .don't give up on these, just have patience and you'll get it! I did burn my fingers quite a bit but they were worth it! My guests were SO impressed!

love paulas recipes and her sense of humor the way she presents her cooking..... but, when making the filling for the cookies(carefully following instructions i was deeply disappointed in the grittiness of the cream filling from the sugar. since the recipe stated sugar, not fine sugar or confectioners sugar.i used the regular sugar and the cream was usable but an embarrasment when i served the magnolia trumpets. was the use of regular sugar a misprint? i will still watch paula with great delight but please, tell me where i made the mistake... and, how to correct it. with many thanks, siggi

I watched the show as well and it looked extremely easy. Wrong...I went thru several batches before achieving the picture perfect cone as seen on TV. Everyone loved them but definately too time consuming to make. I give 5 stars to Paula but 0 for myself.

I love this recipe. These cookies are so rich and full of flavor! I watched the show and had no problem following the recipe. I used an old fashion ice cream cone covered with foil to mold my cookie. I've also decided to mold the cookie over a custard dish to make a basket and fill with fresh fruit (strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry and a side dish of sauce made with Grand Marnier, orange liqueur, or OJ concentrate, yummy, yummy. This cookie is so ELEGANT and so are you, Paula. I love your show!!

I probably wouldn't ever make this recipe again. If you're making it, I'd recommend dissolving the sugar in the milk before adding it to be sure that the filling doesn't taste gritty. I could still taste the Crisco even with the sugar and other ingrediants added to it so that was a little gross. I made my own cone with Renold's non-stick foil wrapped around a section of a file folder that I had taped into a cone. That worked out really well. I also used the non-stick foil to make the cookies. It worked great. I'd definitely recommend making only 2 or 3 at a time because you really have to time when you take them off to make the cone - too soon, they fold and don't shape, too late, they're hard. There are so many other recipes for good cookies that I'd try them over this recipe.

Wonderful recipe but I did find it difficult to wrap dough around those metal cones. Too soon and they fell apart, too long a wait and they wouldn't wrap. Needless to say I lost quite a few but was getting the hang of rolling them by the end. I managed to salvage enough of them to bring to a cookie swap and they were a hit! Yes, I would make them again.

i have to give these 5 stars for the presentation these made at my cookie swap. my filling did not turn out crunchy. if the sugar crystals don't dissolve maybe the milk wasn't hot enough or you didn't whip it long enough after adding the hot milk. these cookies are delicious and very sinful.
