I gave this recipe to my sister and she baked this cake, she said it was delicious! So I thought I would try it too. The first time I baked this cake I used Splenda instead of sugar. It was terrible! The cake didn't rise! I wasn't gonna give up, so I baked it again and used sugar and it was delicious just like my sister said! I did some research on Splenda and you have to add more ingredients to make cakes and breads rise. It was a learning process for me. I am gonna bake this cake again (with regular sugar in a few more days for a banquet. Loved this cake! :

Fabulous! A dense, moist, rich cake. This might be the best cake I've ever had.

I have the cookbook this recipe's in. I was looking for something sweet to make, that I already had the ingredients to. I came across this, used margarine instead of butter, put it in two loaf pans, and it was awesome. I've made it at least 5 times since, always giving one loaf away, and always hearing about it being the best. It's now my mom's favorite, so I'm using this recipe to make a berry trifle on Mother's Day.

I must have done something wrong, my cake fell, just after being in the oven for about 30-45 min, My kitchen smells so good, but my cake looks awful. Wondering what I did wrong, I followed the recipe exactly. Any ideas would be helpful.

I have looked for a true pound cake that had a dense crumb and texture but every time I tried a recipe it came out more light and fluffy like a regular cake. This cake is AWESOME. I baked it in a long cake pan that I had and cut slices for strawberry short cake. It's a great tasting cake.

I had a dinner party of 12 folks and EVERYONE loved this cake. No changes to recipe. I am making it for my son-in-law and his parents who live in Chicago. Can't wait to get their comments. Love me some Paula Dean.

This was fine, but nowhere near my favorite. You definitely need to add more salt than it calls for to balance out the flavors.

After trying numerous bundt cake recipies online, this was the easiest and best recipe! Everyone who tried this cake asked me for the recipe! Its soft on the inside, crisp on the outside and very flavorful. I bring all ingredients out 2 hours prior to baking.. The cake comes out better that way. This recipe will def. Go in my book!

made this cake twice, the first time i only added half cup of sugar and only baked for 1hr. the results not good, cake was half of pan size and raw. seond time 2cups of sugar and 1.5 hrs to bake, results perfection! a novice baker, i realized that the sugar added slowly puffs up the batter alot, a important step dont rush it!
