I think I did something wrong. The batter was really thin. So I added another cup of flour but it took like 2 hours to bake and in the end it was still really mushy. I have read everyone else's reviews and they were all successful, so I'm certain that there was a flaw in my process. I will try it again next week. :

This recipe rocks. Easy to make and amazing texture to the cake when it's done. I served it at Father's Day lunch yesterday and got lots of compliments. A little too sweet for my tastes though which is why I didnt give it 5 stars. Will adjust the next time I make it, prob a half cup less sugar and see how it tastes. Dusted it lightly with some confectioner's sugar and served it up with vanilla icecream.
Oops this review is really for the Grandmother's Paula Sour Cream Pound Cake.

Wow, this was so yummy. I made it in two 9" round cake pans since I didn't have a tube pan. It baked for about 50 minutes and turned out perfectly. Not as dense as a traditional pound cake, but the flavor was superb and the texture velvety, with a beautiful crumb. I plan to bake it this way again for my sons birthday and cut each round in half to make four rounds, soak them in a lemon basil simple sryup, then layer it with mascarpone cheese whipped cream and fresh sliced berries. The flavor and texture of this cake is the perfect vehicle for those toppings.

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I promised to make a pound cake for my son for desert to go with the strawberries I had. He was home for break from college and wanted something special. I looked up several recipes for pound cake and decided on this one because I "mostly" had all the ingredients. I substituted the vegetable shortening for more butter and it turned out beautifully dense and delicious! Great texture and flavor with the strawberries. This is a winner!

Paula, I am mad at you! this cake is soooo good and sooooo easy. I have never made a cake that tastes this good. It is so moist and light. I baked it this morning. I was nervous so I put some in a loaf pan first. That will probably be gone very soon and its only 8:00 in the morning. Thank you for posting recipes anyone can cook!
