I am not sure what the reviewers that did not like this recipe did. But obviously they did something wrong!!!!!!. This recipe is delicious and so easy to make a little time consuming cause i had to let the rice cool off. But Oh My God. It was not bland at all like some people said and i even substituted celery for olives because my fiance and my kids hate them. It was delicious i even read all the comments and yes it was all of them, while i was making the dish just to know what to expect. And to the lady who got offended because of the name. Get over yourself its just a name, and no I am not white.

Just made and this was great. After watching her show, I did watch the seasoning as she tasted her own and she said if you don't like it spicy to watch out. So easy and great for picnics. AS far as Pensacola, FL...not all "Plantations" had slaves and you sure have issues you need to deal with.

This is the third time that I've made this dish for my family. They just love it.I have to say that when I boil the shrimp I use a lot more old bay then recommended.

By itself, the salad is a little bland, but we then put it on toasted bagels with a little cream cheese. I don't know why, but it was a phenomenal topper for that. We will definitely make it again (but with less rice since it is going on a bagel

I absolutely love the green olives in this recipe., I added cellery. I actually used Emerill's seasoning when cooking the shrimp, lots of it. I also used brown rice instead of white. I omited the mayo and ate it with a spoon.

I added the following spices to this salad:
Beau Monde, Lemon Pepper, Onion Powder, and a few dashes of Tobasco. Improved the flavor greatly. Also I used less mayo and added some EVOO for moistness. Less calories and a bit healthier. Tasted great over butter lettuce with a splash of EVOO and vinegar.

I made this dish for a ladies luncheon that I attended a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say it was the hit dish. I am taking it to Louisiana to serve my family at Thanksgiving. Absolutely one of the best shrimp dishes I have ever put in my mouth. I cannot imagine anyone not liking this dish. Way to go Paula Deen. You rock!!!!!! I told my brother that I feel my name should be Debbie Deen! LOL

I didn't add the rice or olives (im pregnant and wanted the salad ASAP but it came out good. I notice on the show she mixed lemon juice in the mayo but that step is not listed on the website.

I followed the instructions completely and it looked good but when I added the mayo to the rice it changed the flavor of the entire dish. It went from looking good to something that you can buy at the gas station in the middle of a country road. It tastes terrible.

I made this shrimp salad just as the recipes says, and took it to work for lunch with some leaves of butter lettuce to make "cups." I was getting swarmed left and right by my co-workers for a taste. Well, needless to say, it disappeared pretty fast. And now I get requests all the time to bring it in again...
