At Christmas my mother would make these cookies, only we called them "Butter Balls" for good reason. They would just melt in your mouth like butter. All the family loved "Nornie's" Christmas cookies and these are just as good.

A favorite with my family and I. I have been making a cookie almost exactly like this for years and years. An old family recipe. I use walnuts and roll them in balls the size of walnuts. THIS RECIPE IS PERFECT. DO NOT USE MARGERINE. THEY WON'T BE HALF AS GOOD.

I thought these cookies were good, but the sugar was kinda moist and sticky on the outside and the nuts were a little too much for me.

My husband and I made several batches of these to use as Christmas presents to people who "pop-in" during Christmas. They were the best cookies, and we used pecans in ours and we did a batch with almonds. The pecans were better, we thought, but the cookie itself was a hit with everyone who ate them.

Every year I make baskets/trays for my husbands business as well as for some holiday giving to a few service people we deal with. This year I included this recipe of Mexican Wedding Cookies and they were a definite hit! Many of the recipients singled this cookie out as absolutely delicious and asked for the recipe.

I made 7 diffrent kinds of cookies for christmas and these were the first to go. Everyone keeps asking when I will be making more. I think that these are worth the wait of the 40 min baking time. Another 5 star for Paula.
