This was wonderful! I put it back in the warm oven to melt the marshmallows a little and frosted it the next day. The cake was moist, but not soggy. We loved it.

Tried this one out with the kids last night. Turned out perfect! We held off making the icing until the cake was out of the oven. We're glad we did because I think if it had a chance to set up at all, we would have not been to pour it over every marshmallow.

my kids and i LOVE this cake! however the frosting amount is WAAAAAYYY too much. i half the recipe for the frosting AND marshmallows and it's amazing. even when i did make the frosting recipe as written i found i couldn't bring myself to put that much on the cake, it simply overpowers it. do yourself a favor save some ingredients and half the frosting, you'll thank me later after devouring this cake.

I do like this recipe. My advice for those who did not like the sweetness and had issues with a soggy cake is to substitute the cake with a dark chocolate brownie. Use marshmallow fluff and pecans and melt semi-sweet chips on top in a warm oven to finish it off. This reduces the sweetness and the "cake" layer will not get soggy.

For those who say this is not a Mississippi Mud Cake like they grew up with, you are right. HOWEVER, on the show Paula said this was a Texas Sheet Cake with the marshmallows added in likea Mud Cake. In my opinion, the best chocolate cake ever made is a Texas Sheet cake. You can not beat this recipe. Try following the directions exactly, i.e. don't try to boil cocoa powder without any liquids added to it!

This was just awful, I think bringing the cocoa in a saucepan to boil was where it went wrong because the cake and icing just tasted burnt and I knew when I was making this it wasn't right but followed the recipe. I didn't overcook it because it was still a little gooey in the middle. I like Paula Dean recipes, but this was bad.

This recipe was good, I loved the cake the best! But it was extremely sweet, which my husband loves. Next time I'll make it a dark chocolate frosting with less sugar. But I will definately make this cake again!

I made it, for my daughter birthday. Was too sweet, the cake was nice and moisture, but the icing was extremely sweet. No one can eat it. Sorry Paula you are great but this time was not my favorite. I keep trying.
