Simply delicious, moist, very enjoyable. This is my new chocolate cake recipe. Imade all the trimmings the first time. Way to much will just do cake and maybe frosting or my own. But delicious none the less:

One monstrous and decadent cake! Made 3 - 9" cakes and added mini choc chips instead of pecans in the filling. Also added caramel sauce to the top. Feeds an army so make sure this is made for a large party. Even better the day after!

Just for ease, I used a cake box mix. The filling was really easy to make and good. The frosting is good too, you need the 6 cups of powdered sugar with the bittersweet chocolate. I just used a 10oz. Bag of bittersweet chips, it came out fine. I just didn't care for the consistency of this frosting, it comes out very grainy and not smooth. Also just made my own quick chocolate ganache, melted some semi-sweet chips and heavy cream and poured over cake, not a big fudge sauce lover.

I made this cake for my best friend's birthday. It was a hit, very rich but if your going to celebrate a birthday, this is the way to go. And best of all it turned out looking just like the one Paula made, I was so proud of my beautiful cake!

I was glad that I made this cake. Although the frosting is very rich, the filling and the cake are very good. Plus, the decorations were very pretty. Overall, it was a good cake.

An absolute WINNER!!!!! I followed the recipe exactly and it came out PERFECT!!!! The cake is HUGE and it will serve a crowd. So rich and yummy!!!
I'm not sure why Dan thought the frosting was too think. Again, I followed the directions to a T and it was great. And, for once, a frosting recipe that will actually cover a cake!!!!

Making this cake is a once in a lifetime cooking experience. Lacking 10-inch pans, I made it in three 8-inch pans and added bourbon to the filling and icing for an extra kick, like this cake needs an extra kick. Yum! It must be cut just a sliver at a time, it is so rich. Paula, this is a five-star cake. Keep them coming.

This cake is every bit as good as Ina Garten's cakes. I will make this cake when I want great reviews.
