Great recipe. I have tried a few. I would add an extra tablespoon( or two of sugar to the recipe. I would like to freeze some so it will be ready for the holidays. I'm not sure if baked goods freeze well. Thank you Paula.

This recipe was horrible. It was moist but tasteless.

Moist, delicious, and super easy. Can be done with basic ingredients that most people have in their house already. Didn't crumble like many cornbread recipes.

This was the first cornbread I have ever had that was really moist ... it almost has the texture of banana bread and the like. Based on the other reviews, I used 3 Tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tsp. salt to give it more flavor. I also do not keep unsalted butter on hand, so it was salted as well. It turned out perfect. The very middle was slightly underdone at the recommended time, but it was perfectly browned all over, so it was yummy anyway. I preheated my 8" round cake pan to give it a nice crust. Mmmmm, I will definitely make this again.

I used 1 cup cornmeal and 3/4 cup flour, and baked it in an iron skillet. It was amazing!! Moist and crunchy! Will definitely make again!

I did something a little different on this recipe. My family has always made our cornbread in an iron skillet. I took my skillet and put it in the oven with some oil in it and let it heat up. After it became nice and hot, I poured my batter in then proceeded to bake it as instructed. It gave it a nice crunchy bottom that my family and I are accustom to. We loved it.

The family and I liked it well enough, but we wanted more of a cornmeal taste, so next time, less flour and more cornmeal.

I made this cornbread and added cheddar cheese. It was very moist...but like other comments, it was very bland. We wound up throwing it out. I thought about making it again and adding more sugar, but maybe adding one half of a cup of sweetened condensed (comments below with the buttermilk would be a good idea?

As a previous comment...there's no taste! I even added cheese and jalapenos! Very disappointed considering it's Paula!!!
Will be looking for another recipe for sure!

I agree with the previous comments. I too found the cornbread bland, and I was very surprised coming from Paula! ... My family and I were very excited to try this recipe as I have never made cornbread from scratch, but was very disappointed with the outcome. Not sure if adding more sugar would have helped it or not. Doubt if I'll ever try this again.
