I definitely disagree with those who don't like this cornbread as is. I chose it because it wasn't "sweet". If you like sweet cornbread, try another recipe.

This is probably the best recipe I have ever come across for cornbread. Mine has always ended up dry and without taste. This recipe calls for just a touch of sugar and buttermilk which really makes the difference in staying moist. I couldn't stop eating it!! Sooo good with just a dab of butter..yummy! Thanks Paula!!

Folks, this is a recipe for cornbread.... not sweet corn muffins like a blueberry muffin or similiar. No one in the south puts much sugar into real cornbread... maybe a tsp or two. Don't like sugar biscuits or sugar rolls with a meal... same with cornbread. After all, it is a bread, not a dessert bread or a sweet loaf pan bread. Please realize the difference & I think you will come to love this recipe. It is ideal for savory additions, though, such as peppers, chives, corn kernels, sausage, onion, etc. Fun to experiment!

Delicious! Followed a couple of reviews - added 1/3 c. sugar, and 1 tsp salt. For the wet ingreds. i added an 8 oz container of sour cream and reduced the butter milk to 3/4 cup. Also added chopped fresh chives and some spices: dash of Ancho chili Pepper and Arizona dreaming from Penzeys spices. Next time I'll put in 9" pan for a thinner cornbread and experiment with creamed corn and jalapeno peppers : Thanks, Paula!!!

I truly enjoy this cornbread every time! Plus I prepare it for my father - no complaints (he loves cornbread with his peas and beans.

Needed tweaking! Used 1/4 cup of sugar and a hearty 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
After that, it's absolutely delicious! Make it very regularly! No more box mix!
Definitely gets 5 stars after the adjustments, but only 2 before! Sorry Paula!

I agree with the other reviewers that this cornbread recipe didn't have much taste. Needed honey or something to make it sweeter. It was easy, though.

it was moist, but it didn't have any flavor. And bobby and/or paula should have stated that if you want to make corn muffins and you use muffin papers, you have to spray them or the muffins will stick.

I was disappointed with this corn bread recipe. I almost followed directions exactly but added honey and roasted red pepper and cilantro.... My boyfriend loved it though
