Hey everyone, i'm new to baking but saw all the great reviews on these cookies and just had a quick question. in addition to the confectioners sugar i see granulated sugar also but the recipe doesnt tell you how much of it. so I was just wondering how much you would recommend. Thank you very much!

I had a hard time getting the cookies to not be flat. I make these cookies frequently, and still to this day, they are still as flat as a pancake. The icing? Delicious. It sets so well and tastes wonderful.

I made these 2 days ahead and kept in the frig. Then I had to leave them out for an hour before the dough was flexible enough to use. One batch I made with all vanilla extract, the other as posted. The ones with all vanilla I made into logs and sliced them onto a parchment paper lined cookie sheet before baking. They flattened out which is exactly what I wanted since I was making the chocolate peppermint sandwhich cookies with these. The other batch I scooped onto the paper, placed a half a pecan in the center and baked. They all came out delicious. The almond dough is actually very addictive! I had to force myself to stop eating it. You can't go wrong with this recipe. Making it with just vanilla keeps the cookie mild enough to add any other ingredient. I am only using Paula's recipes for cookies-they have all been fantastic!

This recipe was very easy and quick. They rolled out very cleanly without sticking and baked perfectly! My husband is very picky about frosted sugar cookies and he was extremely complementary of these! We are keeping this recipe!

I had never made icing like this one before, but I am so glad I tried it. It was a big hit. I remember my Dad talking about an icing his mom made when they were young and his discription of it sounded like this icing. Too bad he is not here to enjoy now that I have found this recipe.

I made these today. I followed the recipe with the exception of the almond extract. My family just isnt fans of that flavor so I used the juice of one fresh lemon and they were delicious. We used colored sugar on half and Gale Gands icing for the other half, suggestion of other posters. They were both delicious. I would recommend this to all and will definately make again.

I tested 4 sugar cookie recipes from Food TV - this came in FIRST with Alton Brown's recipe at a DISTANT second. THE EXCEPTION is that I also tested 4 frosting recipes and the "QUICK VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING" by Gale Gand was hands down the winner for frosting. Take my advice, switch up the frosting and you'll make THE BEST sugar cookies you've ever had!
