I've made this several times. I like to use french vanilla pudding but I can only find 3.4oz boxes so I use two and add a bit more milk. I'm not a nila wafer fan so I like this cookie variation. I have one chilling in the fridge now. Yum item not reviewed by moderator and published
Will have to try this one. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Must try.. But I must add this lil note. When u guys make this the next time. Put you all some strawberries n the batter. I promise it is delicious. When I make my regular banana pudding,I put strawberries n it. It's called strawberry banana pudding. It is D. E. L. I. C. I. O. U. S.. Try it.. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this banana pudding . found the same recipe from another site with vanilla wafers & it was AWESOME!!!! I highly recommend this recipe A MUST TRY!!!! ❤❤❤❤ item not reviewed by moderator and published
How well will this dessert stay? I want to make it today for dessert tomorrow night.

item not reviewed by moderator and published
My daughter's friend mentioned this recipe to her. But she thought it used Milano cookies instead of the Chessman. I used the Chessman on the bottom and topped with Milano then covered with the remaining pudding. We haven't eaten it yet, it's just gone into the fridge. Excited to try and know we will love it! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've made this mistake before. Turns out I wasn't using INSTANT pudding but was using COOK AND SERVE pudding. I'm unsure if that's what happened but I found out that was my mistake. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was very delicious. The only thing I change was that I used 1 box of White Chocolate (3.3 oz) and 1 box of French Vanilla (3.4 oz). item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was my first attempt to make banana pudding. It was so easy to make and my husband literally moaned while he was eating it saying it was the best stuff ever! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I didn't think I liked banana pudding until I tried this! Delicious! I followed the recipe except substituted vanilla wafers for the chessmen cookies. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe is easy and out of this WORLD good! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is incredible, but once you start making it, people will never let you stop. I have to make this for every function I am invited to; this and my peach cobbler. It can get a bit expensive but I think it is well worth it to how much people enjoy and talk about it. There are never any leftovers even if I do a double batch. This is the only one I ever make now. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I definitely didn't see that it called for 2 cups of milk so luckily I just kept adding some in until it looked okay! I personally don't like whipped toppings so I left it out and it was still very rich and yummy! I'm gonna try this with chocolate pudding to and maybe strawberry to make a cheesecake like dessert. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This pudding has been a tradition with my family for 3 years now. We LOVE it! item not reviewed by moderator and published

This is rediculously good. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My all time fave, but what am I doing wrong? I have made this dish at least 10 times and each time following the recipe exactly I have very runny and messy pudding that does not firm up even after overnight in the fridge. I think the 2 cups of milk combined with the can of condensed milk is too much liquid for one 5 oz box of pudding mix. Everyone loves it and asks for the recipe but the presentation is ruined by this. This last time I actually used 3-3.4 oz of boxes of pudding and used 1 cup milk (instead of the 2 cups) for each box and finally this pudding was just the right consistency. From reading the reviews it appears my situation is a rarity but can't figure this one out especially following the directions. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Everyone loved it!!! Recipe was so easy and such a hit. Its so creamy and delicious!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Just made 2 pans of this last night and my family LOVED it! I was so happy because I tried to make it once before a few years ago and flopped. lol. This recipe was soooo easy. Will be making it again for sure! item not reviewed by moderator and published
A coworker made this for our Thanksgiving potluck and it was AMAZING! Tastes just like Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding from NYC. I'll be making this for Christmas for sure! item not reviewed by moderator and published

Made this the night before a dinner party - following the recipe exactly (though doubling it). It was a total hit with multiple people asking for a piece to take home (and the recipe). It was even better for breakfast the day after the party! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Best damn banana pudding I ever had. I got rave reviews and I used Lorna Doone cookies and Chessman cookies item not reviewed by moderator and published
One dessert I crave from time to time is banana pudding, especially in the summer. This is THE ONE!! One alteration I've made is that I use chunked up (aggression with the rolling pin!) chocolate almond biscotti instead of the cookies. Regardless of the cookies, this is scrumptious. item not reviewed by moderator and published
his recipe was amazing it was gone in 1 day. I added a layer of crumbled entenmann's pound cake on top of the pudding AMAZING I will be makeing this again item not reviewed by moderator and published
Uhmm this looook sooooooo good ! you are a great cook Lord Help ME ! item not reviewed by moderator and published
love this recipe, but it is best to freeze it, its hard enough to remind you of ice cream but just soft enough to still cut it. Freezing it is the only way me and my family eat it now, and its especially great in the summer. perfect cold treat to a hot summer day item not reviewed by moderator and published
This pudding is awesome and so easy to make. Sometimes I find "seasonal" Chessman cookies i.e. Xmas & Easter! You can't go wrong!!!!!!!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is one of my all time favorite recipes. My fiancé does not like bananas in his pudding so I leave them out and everyone still loves it. I usually just slice me up a banana and put on top of my servings I eat. It is a very simple and delicious recipe. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Amazing!!! Always a winner.... item not reviewed by moderator and published
Awesome dessert -everyone loves it! It disappears too quickly though. Even people who say they don't like banana pudding seem to love it. Easy to make - must refrigerate overnight though. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Going to make this for a potluck at work. It is better to make the night before so it can sit or do you recommend make it the day of? I don't want the cookies to be all mushy. Any thoughts? item not reviewed by moderator and published
It was awesome and easy ant the Chessman Cookies looked really cute item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is fantastic but next time I will just use the Nila Wafers. Thank you so much for the recipe!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe was oh so good and so easy to make. I was hesitant at first to make it because of the reviews that said it was too sweet -- my husband does not do too sweet. However, he was declaring how good it was before he even had a full piece -- he scraped the pudding bowl clean. My sister (a true size 0), who watches her sweet intake, not only ate a large piece but did something she never does -- took a very large piece home with her. The recipe says it yields 12 servings, it yields much more than that (unless you eat extremely large servings). I served 9 people and we had more than half the pan left. Although everyone loved the use of the Chessman cookies, I think next time I'll try vanilla wafers just to see the difference. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've been making the recipe for years and it always gets rave reviews. I prefer the mini nilla wafers to the chessman cookies because the are easier to eat. I've also changed it up and used chocolate pudding with mini oroes or nutter butters, Just before serving I add a fresh layer of cookies and bananas to the top. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I've been making this for about 5 years now. It tastes like a banana cream pie, but maybe even better. You really can't go wrong here item not reviewed by moderator and published
My granddaughters and grandson teamed up to make this tasty, satisfying pudding. One of your best!!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Best banana pudding I've ever put in my mouth! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is an absolute show stopper. I have made this for countless parties and family gatherings and it always gets the same response. Awesome!! The difference in this recipe and the normal banana cream recipes is the Chessman cookies. They are buttery vs. vanilla and that 's what makes it special. People call me all the time for this recipe...it is truly delicious. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Excellent! Like HEAVEN in your mouth! item not reviewed by moderator and published
OMG the best I have ever tasted! I can't believe someone would compare this to store-bought. Desserts are sweet, so if too sweet, eat a smaller portion. Look at the ingredients...Hello, very rich, but awesomely delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I guess I expected an amazing banana pudding but I was highly disappointed. Too much filling, too sweet, not much better than a store bought banana pudding in my opinion. I much prefer the Nilla wafer recipe to this. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love, love, love this. I had it 3 times at work and made it Christmas. Everyone loved it!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
OH MY! This is divine! Thanks Paula! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Best pudding ever! I soaked the bananas in lemon juice to combat browning. I added them in the pudding and in the layers along with pineapples i layered 3 times on last layer I covered the cookies with pudding pineapples and strawberries. Pure bliss! Wow Paula Dean you never fail me! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Wonderful banana pudding. I was leery of changing from vanilla wafers to the chessman cookies with my picky bunch but they loved it!! I didn't use all the Eagle Brand milk and I used vanilla and banana cream pudding and used heavy whipping cream instead of the frozen stuff. I almost made myself sick and my husband requested I get it out of the house before he gets sick LOL This is a keeper!! My son who I've never been able to get to try banana pudding had the pan and a spoon and finished the last of it! item not reviewed by moderator and published
A coworker made this for our christmas luncheon yesterday, it was amazing, i plan on making my own for my family christmas next week...so surprised at how easy it sounds, it was fluffy, light, and amazing...and this is coming from a banana pudding expert!! lol...one thing i might do differently is have some bananas in the mix and not just layered on the cookies, but thats just me! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I love this recipe and i love the woman who made it! thanks mama paula item not reviewed by moderator and published
The whole family loved it! Thanks Paula for another great recipe!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published

Love this Banana Pudding!! I have made this three times for my family and they simply love it. My aunt who is the best chef in our family stalked me for three weeks until I sent her this recipe and My daughter just called me to ask if i could make one for her financees bday on next week.... this will always be one or our family favorites.. I hope you enjoy it as much as We do. the only suggestion would be to add more cookies. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My son and I made this tonight. It was delicious! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Absolutely D E L I C I O U S ! This is "THE" best banana pudding we've ever had. I've made it twice, EXACTLY AS WRITTEN (hence the true 5-stars), and it's to "DIE FOR" says my husband who is lactose intolerant, lol. You never disappoint us Paula Deen. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very Deeeeeeelish!! I've made This recipe twice the first time I made it I use condense milk by Carnation came out perfectly. The second time I made this I use condensed milk by Eagle Brand (Borden) it was extremely sweet I am not sure if this makes a difference. But this is a great all around favorite dessert to have on the table. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Oh My God! Sooooo good. The only thing I can add to this recipe is to advise you to let it set in the fridge for awhile to let the cookies soften up. I even covered the top layer of cookies with pudding for 2 reasons, to soften them up faster and to hide the secret ingredient from inquiring minds. The chess cookies are a giveaway. I ate my the next day after it sat in the fridge overnight and it was beyond delicious. My diet is ruined item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delish and very easy to make!! I've been making it for several years now and it never fails!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Beyond delicious! Trust me.....it's the Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies that take this from regular banana pudding to phenomenal banana pudding! I have been asked to make this 3 times since I served it at a Father's Day BBQ this summer. Getting reading to make it now for Thanksgiving. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delicious! My coworker made one for our Thanksgiving dinner. item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family loves this! I don't like vanilla or French vanilla pudding so I make it with the banana cream flavor and it's always a HUGE hit! Thanx Paula!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Had this at our Office Thanksgiving get together. It was wonderful! I'm going to try this and instead of bananas use fresh & frozen strawberries. Bet it will be great too! item not reviewed by moderator and published
My family absolutely LOVES this! The first two times I made it I used the vanilla wafers, but since I'm making it for Thanksgiving I'm going to try it with the Chessmen cookies! Can't wait! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Amazing. Delicious. Can't mess up. I am famous for this recipe. Thx Paula! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is a wonderful recipe by PAULA DEEN ! We use it whenever we need a special dessert! Great for potlucks and it's the first to be devoured! THANKS PAULA !!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
AWESOME!!!!!!! MY FAMILY LOVES IT ! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Delicious! I followed the suggestion to dip the bananas in lemon juice to prevent browning and it was perfect. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Tastes great my boyfriend and I ate the entire dish ourselves! ;) item not reviewed by moderator and published
I must say that this recipe is a hit and has taken the place of traditional banana pudding in my home. Love it!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
So rich and creamy. Love the cream cheese and Pepperidge Farm cookies. Nice upscale dessert. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was sickeningly sweet. Not making this again. It's a shame the whole thing is going in the garbage now. I'd be embarrassed to serve this to people. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this for my husband's christmas party and everyone loved it. One guy went back for three bowls. My husband frequently requests that I make this dish for dessert. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was one of the desserts at a bbq over the past weekend. What a hit!! Absolutely delicious and so easy to make. Everyone wanted the recipe. Will make again for sure. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is always a big hit. I always use at least 6 bananas as I slice them pretty thick. I think next time I'm going to replace the vanilla pudding with fudge pudding and sprinkle some chopped peanuts on the banana layer for a little twist. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe is off the charts! Made it today for a special occasion and Everyone loved it. Read others reviews about this or that, but I wouldn't change a thing. Come on now, it's Paula! Yeah, the Chessmen cookies aren't cheap but as the title says, this ain't yo' mamas recipe. item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was the easiest recipe ever and everyone absolutely loved it. I made it for a pool party and it was quite refreshing. It did not taste like a banana pudding. I added a little twist to it by adding rum and bourbon vanilla extract to the pudding and I also added fresh strawberries to my bananas. Before serving I placed the dish in the freezer for a couple of hours so it tasted like an ice cream treat. I think that I will take the pudding idea and make parfaits for another event. SCRUMPTIOUS! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This recipe will change your mind in how you make banana pudding going forward. It is really really good. I won't go back to the vanilla wafers again. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Wow Wow Wow! Super easy and soo yummy!! It was a hit at my dinner and everyone is already asking for me to make it again! Loved it! item not reviewed by moderator and published
best banana pudding ever! rave reviews at the church gathering. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very tasty! Substituted butter cookies instead of "Chessman." I also made my own whipped cream and put it is because I just hate the tub of cool whip. I always sweeten my whipped cream with powdered sugar and put a little bit of vanilla extract in. Also, after all was eaten, I realized I left out the sweetened condensed milk. I'm glad I did because as far as I'm concerned, it was the perfect sweetness already. Four stars are because I thought it was perfect by leaving the condensed milk out. item not reviewed by moderator and published
By far the best banana pudding I have ever had! Since I follow a strict gluten-free diet, I served the cookies on the side for my gluten eating friends and instead layered the bottom of the dish with banana slices and the top of the pudding with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries to look like a flag for the 4th of July. It was the first empty dessert dish at the pot-luck! I had a lot of requests for the recipe! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Very good! My family prefers Nilla wafers to chessman cookies, but overall a great recipe! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Oh my gosh!! Sooooo good and so easy!! The only substitution I made was using vanilla wafers instead of the chessman cookies. They're too expensive. This is my second time making it and it is foolproof. No trying to get the pudding to set like in other banana pudding recipes. It is foolproof!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
FABULOUS! This has become an old standby for me when I have to bring something to a potluck. It ALWAYS goes COMPLETELY and people LICK THE DISH CLEAN! Yummy! : item not reviewed by moderator and published
This was fine. I would not make it again. Its incredibly sweet and rich. I made it thinking our nieces and nephews would like it and most of the kids made a point of saying they did not like it. As an adult, I found it too sweet and overpowering and I would have liked it better if it tasted more like the vanilla pudding. I only had 4 bananas, so it might have helped if i had used the 6-8 as listed. I think leaving out or less of the sweetened condensed milk would have helped. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I am requested to bring this to all family gatherings. I love making this the day before and letting the cookies get "soft" and it is the best! item not reviewed by moderator and published
YUM! Yum, yum, yum yum yum! I made this recipe as directed except I used nilla wafers because I bought the box originally with intention to make banana pudding, but didn't care for the recipe on the box, thus leading me to find this little gem of a recipe! I used a disposable deep dish round aluminum pan, so I decided to layer the bottom with the cookies & banana, and also add a layer of the same to the middle since it was so deep. I crushed nilla wafers over the top, and then decorated with cookies around the edge and a few in the middle. My daughters & I inhaled it for dessert, and I just found myself standing with my fridge door open for 5 minutes, spoon in hand, sneaking more! :•\ Haha! Can't wait to serve it to guests, or bring to my next potluck! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I truly don't know how anyone would not love this dish. It is always a huge hit. I have used both chess cookies and vanilla wafers. I prefer the wafers, I feel the flavor and texture is better. Also, I used an oval baking dish and crushed the remaining cookies on top rather than using the whole cookie. It makes a much more attractive presentation! Awesome recipe, a guaranteed winner! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Absolutely my family's most requested dessert.. Way to go Paula!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Iv'e made it that way millions of times, and my family and friends love it, I'm the pudding queen great recipe item not reviewed by moderator and published
I first read all the reviews and was worried about the "too sweet" factor. All I can say is, if you mix everything well, as the recipe states, this is the easiest, the quickest, and pretty dang good banana pudding! Nuff said. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Absolutely yummy. A must try for everyone thinking about it!!!!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
This is fantastic! I leave out the bananas because I can't eat them and use vanilla wafers instead of the cookies (too expensive for my taste. This is the second time I've made ir, and in fact, gave the receipe to a young many in the grocery store walking down the aisle. It's my new guilty pleasure. item not reviewed by moderator and published
It will last about 3-4 day's. Anything after that it will grow legs. I have made this recipe about 6 times if you make it the night before the cookies will be soft the next day it will almost have the consistency of an ice cream cake. Super Yummy item not reviewed by moderator and published
We make this all the time it's great. item not reviewed by moderator and published
We don't use as many bananas as it calls for. item not reviewed by moderator and published
It's because you didn't pay attention to the OZ. of the pudding pack. The recipe calls for a single 5 oz pack of powdered pudding, not the new 3.4 oz packs. So use 1 + 1/2 packs of pudding for the 2 cups of milk and you'll get the right consistency. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Well said and this is the best ever. item not reviewed by moderator and published
Are you folding the whipped cream in as oppose to mixing or blending it because folding it in allows it to keep its volume. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I only use Lorna Doone cookies! Everybody loves it! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I made this last week and it was just as good the next day and even the day after that. Save yourself some trouble and make it the night before. If you want the cookies on top to be super-fresh, you could always just add that layer in the morning. item not reviewed by moderator and published
STFU item not reviewed by moderator and published
Sorry for you...I do not agree. I loved it and did not find it too sweet. I found it to be very rich and creamy without being over sweet. Are from the South where we serve very rich deserts? If you look at the other responses you will see you are in the bottom of the minority! item not reviewed by moderator and published
I heard that the french vanilla contributes to it being overly sweet, and that you should use regular vanilla pudding mix. I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference, because I followed that advice and have only ever made it with regular vanilla pudding mix, but that is something you could try. item not reviewed by moderator and published
I do not agree, it is delicious !!!! item not reviewed by moderator and published
Taste is a matter of preference. This dish is delicious but if you do not care for rich, sweet desserts then perhaps sugar free pudding and homemade whipped cream would be in order for you. That way, YOU control the sweetness, and you and your family can enjoy this wonderful dessert-just a suggestion. item not reviewed by moderator and published
That sounds like it would be good. Have you tried it yet? item not reviewed by moderator and published
i love the nilla wafers as well. item not reviewed by moderator and published
