Ingredients

  • 2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
  • 6 to 8 bananas, sliced
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream

Directions

Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.

In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    Addictive

I made a test run of this pudding last night for the first time, and it was delicious however, a little too sweet for my... tastes. Today, I made another batch by only using half of the sweetened condensed milk, and it was PERFECT. Read more

    Shame on you guys...

I get the whole "to each his own..." But if you guys are still using Nilla Wafers in this receipe then you are making Yo'... Mama's Banana Pudding. I don't necessarily use the Chessmen cookies(they are a bit expensive) but I do use shortbread cookies. They are one of main ingredients that make this receipe a standout. I have used Keebler Sandies and Pecan Sandies in the past and they have both been hits. Also, my grocery store doesn't carry 16oz. containers of Cool Whip so last time instead of buying 2, I just used 1 12 oz container and it was just as good if not better. Enjoy!Read more

Better than my Mama's banana pudding!

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
This was so yummy and easy. I live in Canada so I couldn't find the cookies; I ended up using vanilla waffers instead. I... added two dashes of nutmeg to the pudding mixture. It really made the dish pop with creamy flavor. It gave it some distinction. If you are looking for a great dessert recipe, look no further! Read more

This is such a genuinely good recipe! Paula Deen hit a winner with this one! It's rich, it's sweet it's creamy and the... cookies that the recipe calls for are what make it soooo super good! I have been making this recipe since it was published in her magazine a couple of years ago, it is a huge hit at all of the family get togethers and a great treat, just for us, now and again. This recipe will forever live in my recipe book and be one of my all time favorites! Thanks Miss Paula for a great recipe! YUMMM !Read more
