They were really lacking in flavor to me. I love yams and these are not it. I'll be looking for a new recipe.

They were tasty but won't want to transport this anywhere the sauce remains runny. It never thickened, otherwise this would have been great. As it was it spilled over in the car from taking it to our Thanksgiving celebration!

As previously stated, I made it for Thanksgiving and was begged to make it again for Christmas! Huge hit.

Made this for Thanksgiving dinner. It was such a hit, my family has requested it again for Christmas Dinner. I have some picky eaters too! I cooked the sauce longer hoping it would reduce further but really didn't, so I appreciate the cornstarch idea and plan on adding it this go around.

SOOOO YAMMY!! This dish was the star at my Thanksgiving table (second only to my husband's rotisserie turkey. I baked the yams after peeling and cutting to bite size pieces, and then thickened the sauce by adding a tablespoon of cornstarch diluted in a quarter cup of water.

Paula, I'm surprised you called Jack Daniel's Old no. 7 a bourbon. As all of us lovers of good old No. 7 know, Jack Daniel's is not a bourbon but Tennessee whiskey. So, to keep the recipe honest, I substituted with Wild Turkey bourbon.

Sooo good! The sauce did turn out thinner than expected, but I didn't pour all of it over the sweet potatoes before putting them back in the oven, and they sort of absorbed a lot of the liquid, so it actually was fine. The sauce was described as "sophisticated" and it will definitely be my new sweet potato recipe for Thanksgiving.

I really liked this recipe for thanksgiving. Easy and convenient because the potatoes can be baked the day before and then reheated with the syrup the next day. The syrup was runny even after boiling for a long time. Next time I'll use 1 less cup of water.

This recipe is so yummy. My only complaint is that the syrup was too thin. To fix this, I reduced the about of water in half. It fixed the syrup. This will be the 3rd year I make this for our family Thnksgiving and Christmas dinner. It's now the only dish people ask me to make for the holidays.

Great tasting Sweet Potato recipe. Just needed some tweaking to accomplish the desired result.
First of all the syrup was too watery, so needed to heat in sauce pan again to get correct consistency. Secondly, the potatoes where still not completely cooked, so had to cook another 1/2 hour at 350. I still will definitely make this dish again. Still liking my fingers...

Voted best side dish at our last Thanksgiving feast...the requests for this dish started just after Halloween for this years feast! Will however thicken the sauce a bit this year.
