As others suggested, a few minor revisions had to be made. Anticipating the sauce would be runny, as-written, these were my changes and it turned out perfectly!
1.5 Cups of water (instead of 3
2 Tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in 4 Tablespoons of cold water. Add to the sauce during the last 15 minutes of simmering.
Delicious!

like candy! The orange rind did offset some of the sweetness ( I added more per some other reviews... I made the sauce and baked the potatoes in advance... the sauce never got thick and I used a lot less than I made - but it was a hit - my husband loved them.!

I used this recipe with yams versus sweet potatoes and it came out very good.

Fantastic, and I don't usually like yams. Following reviewer comments I used less water, more Jack, and added cornstarch and they turned out great. Just as good when reheated. This recipe is a keeper.

I made Paula's No 7 yams for Thanksgiving. Very easy Cooking. My family told me that they were the best yams I ever cooked. I did not have left overs. I had to cook yams for the next day to go with the rest of my Thanksgiving dinner left overs. Thank you Paula for sharing.

This is a great recipe, but as others have stated the sauce does not thicken. Next time I go to make this I'm going to try with only 2 cups of water instead of 3.

I made this over Thanksgiving for my family. Watch out, the sauce will never thicken! We ended up adding some cornstarch after watching is simmer for a good 30 minutes. It turned out really good but it definitely needed some help thickening up. The orange flavor is really nice, I added some zest to give it a brighter flavor.

Tried these for the 1st time for Thanksgiving dinner, but should have had a trial run first. Not sure why, but even after an hour my syrup never became "syrupy" it was quite runny. Good flavor, but not the right consistency...any suggestions as to what I may have done wrong (made sure to double check all measurements could do differently in future ?
