I wanted to bake a special pie for Thanksgiving as my sister was visiting from out of town with her husband. When it was time for dessert I took the pie out of the fridge and proceeded to serve everyone. Everyone wanted seconds! They loved it! They all preferred it to the pumpkin and pecan pies (store bought by the afore mentioned sister that they tried first. Too bad I only made one pie, though. Thanks for this great recipe, Paula!

Being raised in the South, this was a reminder of home! Awesome! Loved it, can't wait for next year...who knows maybe I won't!

Easy to make and delicious! It was a hit with the entires family. My brother-in-law, who doesn't care for sweet potato that much, even enjoyed this pie, and my 8 year old nephew said it was "awesome!"

I used this receipe for the first time on Thanksgiving. My friends loved it! They thought that I couldn't bake a pie, but I fooled them when I brought this pie to their house.

I made this without the meringue and with a gingersnap-pecan pie crust. I made two, and I melted mini-marshmallows on top of one of them. Both turned out excellent. They didn't seem to cook up in the time allotted, so i left them in an extra 10 or 15 minutes, but the taste was good and it wasn't too soupy.

Only complaint is that the recipe says you will be able to mash up cooked sweet potatoes with a handheld mixer, which resulted in a mess. I ended up using a potato masher and even that didn't get out all the chunks. I'd say it'd be easier to just throw it in the food processor.

All that said, I knew I could trust Paula for a Southern staple and it definitely got compliments.

I found the pie a little sweet - I'd cut back a smidge on the sugar but the pie was delicious. Followed the cooking time but found I needed to leave pie in oven 1 hour. Any comments on the pie crust itself?
